London: Cassel & Company Ltd., 1929. First UK Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Good-. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with original dust jacket that still has the price of 7s. 6d.Net on the front flap. DJ shows quite a bit of chipping and wear along the edges, spine and edges also sunned. Black cloth boards underneath show spotting, mainly to the finish of the cloth as well as edge and corner bumps. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. Paper is toned due to age and there is foxing spots present, though this is mainly limited to the first few pages in the front as well as the rear. Foxing is also present on the exterior page sides. The copyright page states first published 1929, though this was released a year prior in the US - making this the first UK edition.

New York: Walker and Company, 1972. Revised edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. VG-/VG-. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. The original price of $5.95 is still present on the front flap. DJ shows scuffing and loss to the color along with edge and corner bumps/wear. Ivory cloth boards underneath the clean with only minor edge bumping, mainly along the top edge. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No signatures or bookplates, no handwriting, no library markings, no remainder marks. The front end page has sticker residue in the upper right corner as seen in the photos. There is some toning and light foxing to the end pages and pastedowns but the text pages are clean. The copyright page states this is the revised edition and shows first printing as the numbers at the bottom go from 1 through 10.

Cleveland, OH: The World Publishing Company, 1945. 3rd Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. DJ has code 049 in the upper corner of the front flap. Jacket is worn and tattered with several large chips missing, spine is faded and also has tears. Red cloth boards underneath show minor wear and very minor fading to the edges. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings. Pages are quite toned due to age and type of paper used and some minor foxing is present at the pastedowns. The front end page shows very faint indentations near the top right corner - this is barely noticeable and perhaps was where a previous store had their price penciled. Copyright page states third printing of July 1945.

Pale green boards with black and white design and text on front and spine. First US edition thus with copyright page showing a single date of 1894. No signatures or bookplates noted, no torn or loose pages. Book exterior shows soiling and spotting, spine darkened. There's evidence on the front end page, upper right corner, where a price was penciled in and then erased. Book condition good plus. See photos.

The book includes a photo of the author, a review sheet from the publisher, and a signed letter to the reviewer. The dust jacket is in very poor condition, with large chunks and tears. DJ has been put in a protective sleeve after the photos were taken. The original price of $4.50 is still present on the front flap. Red paper covered boards with cloth to spine. The paper portion shows only very minor spotting along with minor corner bumps but the cloth has several large fade spots on the spine area. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. DJ is the first state red and black design by SKA Associates. The original price of $3.00 is still present on the front flap. Jacket shows light spotting and soiling with wear spots to edges and folds. Chipping and small tears is also present. Black cloth boards underneath show light spotting, white text on spine is bright. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. No signatures or personal bookplates, no library markings, no remainder marks. The only evidence of handwriting found is in the upper corner of the front end page where you can still see an indentation where a price was once penciled and then later erased. Pages are toned due to age and there is a slight bump to the fore edge of the first 15-20 pages. The copyright page contains the publishers colophon.

New York: H. K. Fly Company, 1911. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, orange cloth boards decorated in gilt and white. Exterior is still attractive with only minor spotting and scuffing. Edges and corners also show bumps/wear. The internal binding is good at hinges but there are a couple spots scattered in the book where some webbing is showing because of pulling. Pages are toned due to age and there is some minor scattered foxing and spotting present. There are no bookplates or library markings but the front end page contains the original owner's signature and date along with a price in the corner. No other handwriting found.

Exterior shows light spotting and soiling, spine is mildly toned. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. Pages are toned due to age but are clean, front and rear end pages are quite darkened because of foxing, text pages are not affected by this.

The original price of $2.95 is still present on the front flap. DJ is housed an older mylar sleeve but shows creases and tears, front and rear flaps show dark spots from where tape once was. Black and blue cloth boards underneath show edge and corner where along with minor spotting. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. The main reason for the low condition grade is both the front and rear end pages and pastedowns show marks from where the dust jacket was once taped on. Original price of $3.95 is still present on the front flap and DJ is housed in an older protective mylar sleeve. Dust jacket shows light foxing and toning which can mainly be seen on the back. Yellow cloth boards underneath the clean except for some very light smudge marks, and a small tear in the cloth at the top edge (see last photo). The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Hardcover, blue cloth boards brightly decorated on front and red and yellow. Exterior shows edge and corner bumps/wear and rear board has faint stain affecting the bottom right section. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues other than some light pulling though the front hinge is just starting. No signatures or bookplates present, no library markings, no handwriting. Pages are toned due to age with some minor spotting but are overall clean. Title page states second edition.

Binding is tight end pages are clean. No remainder marks. Book would normally be graded as near fine condition but bottom outside corner of book has a faint crease that runs through entire book. See photos.

New York: R. F. Fenno & Company, 1897. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Softcover, original publication published in softcover as part of the Fenno's Select Series No. 31 - November 1897, and then later in hardcover. The pale green exterior wraps show fading along the edges and spine along with some creasing and bumps, mainly to corners. The interior binding is tight but the front end page has a tear on the right side, the remaining pages look good. There are no signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting found. This title is rather hard to find in softcover format as 19th-century paperbacks usually did not last very long.

New York: The Book League of America, Inc., 1937. Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, green cloth boards decorated on front and spine. Exterior shows some spotting and soiling and spine is darkened. Edges and corners show minor bumps/wear. The internal binding is good, no hinge issues. Pages are toned due to age and both the front and rear end pages and pastedowns show dark spots in the hinge area from the binding glue. The front end page contains original owner's name and date and there are rust marks from a paperclip which can be seen on this page and the opposite frontispiece. Text pages are unaffected by this issue.

Hardcover, red cloth boards with paper label on spine. Exterior shows some light spotting and soiling, edges and spine are a bit darkened. Lower corners mildly bumped and there is a small scuff mark on the bottom exterior page edge. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. The book appears to have never been read as numerous sections of pages, beginning at page 107, are still uncut either along the top edge or side fore edge. No signatures or bookplates present, no library markings, no handwriting found. Pages are toned due to age and there is foxing and spotting present. The foxing spots seem limited to the end pages and pastedowns as well as the last two chapters in the book. A strong VG, borderline VG+ condition.

Black cloth boards with red design on front and spine. Exterior has edge wear and spine feels a bit lumpy. Decorated end pages showing the Crime Club logo, front end page has a price and DD penciled in the corner. The page opposite the half title page has evidence of where something was written in pencil, presumably a gift inscription, but somebody erased it. Pages are toned due to age and use, foxing and smudges are present throughout. Top edge dyed red.

Exterior has light to moderate edge wear...chipping/bumps/small tears/soiling/creases and/or scuffs. Interior is clean and binding good. No remainder marks or handwriting in book. Our original store price was penciled inside front cover but has since been erased. Binding tight, rear board has light discoloration.
