Hardcover, salesman copy with the deluxe binding spine example attach to the rear pastedown. Ornately decorated on front and rear boards. Exterior shows some soiling and spotting. This is a salesman sample book, also known as a dummy. What is nice about this copy is that there are no names listed on the subscribers pages. Interior pages are complete though front end page has some small holes in it, possibly from insect damage. Binding is brittle and is starting to pull at page 506. This is technically unpaginated as it just has examples of various chapters of the book.

Hardcover, salesman sample book advertising the illustrated version of The Bible Looking Glass. Decorative end pages, front pastedown faded and rear pastedown has a copy of the exterior spine leather for the second binding example. The book examples shows publication was available in both English and German. Original owner's name and address on second end page. The subscribers agreement page shows only two customers' names.

See photos for condition details. Hardcover, this is the salesman sample for the book to be published in 1898. The book contains numerous highlights of the original book was taken to potential customers, showing some sample pages, illustrations, bindings available etc. the front board shows the dark yellow version in the rear board is an example of the front cover in cloth and leather. Inside both boards are examples of the spine for each version available. Sample book still contains the pink tipped in notes describing the various parts. In the back of the book are numerous lined blank pages, the first page shows three orders entered. This is the only handwriting found in the book. Philadelphia, PA: John C. Winston & Company, 1897. Salesman Sample (Dummy) . Hardcover. Fair. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, a unique salesman sample edition containing examples of four different books with the rear board showing the cover board for Historical Stories of American Pioneer Life by J. Fenimore Cooper. All four front covers are on hardbound though the two interior covers are detached. This four title salesman sample also includes numerous spine examples and is filled with highlights and illustrations as well as title and frontispiece pages. The rear the book contains eight sheets of lined paper for placing orders and all of the sheets are unmarked. The only handwriting found in the book is on the top of the front cover and front pastedown which has the original owners name signed. Philadelphia, PA: Edgewood Publishing Co., 1889. Salesman Sample (Dummy) . Hardcover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, green cloth boards with gilt text on front and back. This is a salesman sample copy used to record orders and is not the entire book. Book contains samples of photographs and chapters along with an order form and blank pages in the back. Note: it appears that the first blank lined page has been torn out but all the remaining lined pages are present. Title page contains the original publishers announcement stating the book is available in German as well as English. Pages are toned due to age and type of paper used, the title page is quite darkened due to reacting with the opposite page. Foxing is also present. There is some penciling at the bottom of the blank page opposite the title page this may be erased if desired.

Philadelphia, PA: Universal Book and Bible House, 1904. Hardcover. VG+. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, blue cloth boards decorated on front and back. This is the salesman sample book, also called a dummy edition, and contains highlights of the book as well as different binding styles and order form. This copy does not show much use in the order form only contains two names. The front and rear pastedowns both showed different binding styles. The remaining pages are toned due to age but are clean, no cracks, no torn or loose pages. An attractive copy. Book has been placed in a clear archival storage bag to protect the cloth from getting soiled.

Philadelphia / New York: Hubbard Brothers, 1884. Salesman Sample (Dummy) . Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. This is a salesman sample for the book to be published in 1884. The rear of book contains the ad and approximately 12 pages of order forms, none of which are filled out. Or the order forms has a 1 inch tear along the top. There's an issue with the book with the image plate of Thomas A. Hendricks (located about 35 pages in) as it was bound not square with the rest of the pages, which was probably why this book was never used by the salesman. This is a salesman sample and is not the entire book as it only contains specific pages set to entice a customer to order a copy. See photos.

Hardcover, blue cloth boards with gilt text and paper label to front. Exterior shows some bumps and creases as well as minor soiling. Note: this is a salesman copy and is not the complete book. No signatures or bookplates, in rear of book there is several lined pages to record orders. None of these pages have any handwriting or orders written down. Pages are toned and a few smudge marks are present along with foxing.

Hardcover, orange cloth boards ornately decorated in black and gilt. This is a 1892 salesmen sample, also known as a dummy book, which was used to pre-order and gave examples of different bindings. This particular book was published in conjunction with the Colombian Exposition at the Chicago's World's Fair. As with salesman samples, this is not the entire book and only contains specific sections used to entice the buyer. In the back of the book there's about 14 lined blank pages, of which one is filled out with buyers names and addresses. A nice looking copy. Some minor foxing is present. See photos.

Hardcover, this is the salesman sample for the book The Treasury of Song, published in 1892. The book contains numerous highlights of the original book and was used by businesses to entice people to order the actual book. This copy was never used as all the subscriber pages are still blank. There are small pink slips throughout that are tipped-in and are used to advertise specific songs that may be ordered separately. The front cover is dark orange in the rear board shows the dark brown option, inside on the front pastedown are examples of the spines of both binding options. Included with the book is everything that was found inside: there is a small sheet of what feels like a lead, though it looks like tinfoil - only heavier. Hardcovers, three volume matched set: two volumes being the actual title itself in the third book being the matching salesman sample. These books have been together since they were new. All three volumes are the same design of three-quarter bound leather with gilt designs and text. All books are in their original state and leather is wearing and peeling to the finish. The two volume actual book set has marbled end pages and front and rear, both books are basically in the same condition with exterior edge and corner wear to the boards, binding being good with no cracks, no handwriting or bookplates, no library markings. Two-volume set grades at G++ to VG-. The salesman sample exterior is in slightly better shape but the front marbled end page is detached and torn/frayed. Nashville, TN: Southwestern Publishing House, 1883. Hardcover. Poor. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover. This is a salesman sample copy of Well-Springs of Truth, also known as a dummy copy. It contains just a couple selected pages and illustrations from the book itself and was used to attract potential buyers into ordering their own copy. The book presents three different binding styles, one being the outside cover shown. As far as salesman sample copies though this one is in rough shape. It was very well used for both potential subscribers and then by a family for personal use. The rear decorative end page is missing, the order form pages show quite a bit of sales and then was used by a family to records genealogy data. Pages are heavily foxed and soiled. Some pages have pencil notations and quotes written on them. The condition graded as poor but it's a very uncommon title to have a salesman sample of.

New York: Wisner Manufacturing Company, 1925. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Softcover, flexible patterned leather binding gilt advertising logo on backside showing the Wisner Manufacturing Company and Peerless Creamery & Dairy Equipment of New York City. Leather is worn along edges and is dry and brittle. Internal binding is good, no hinge issues. This is a calendar book for 1925 with each page having its own day as well as numerous advertisements showing various creamery and dairy equipment products. Unpaginated, but book has at least 365 pages. All the calendar pages are unmarked, no handwriting or notes present. The only handwriting found in book is on the front end page where an old price was penciled in the upper corner. Paper is yellowed due to age and some minor foxing is present, the end pages and pastedowns show a bit more toning and soiling but interior pages are clean.
