Description:
Tuscaloosa, Alabama:: Perkolator Press,, 2006.. Edition of 45. 4.75 x 6.25" closed; 18" extended; 16 pages. Five color illustrations, relief printed from color reduction linoleum blocks. Nideggen mould-made paper, Fabriano Ingres paper (sky blue and rust), linen thread, and binder's board. Letterpress printed from metal types (14 pt. Walbaum). Bound as a hardcover pamphlet with fold-out pages. Design, printing, artwork, and text by Amy Pirkle. Amy Pirkle: "It seems as though every society, every culture, has a traditional bread associated with their cuisine. For Southerners, a true southern dinner includes homemade buttermilk biscuits on the side. As far back as I can remember, I knew that when I walked into my grandmother's kitchen in South Georgia, I'd find her in the kitchen with a hot batch of biscuits made from scratch. I printed this book as a tribute to her and to celebrate such simple pleasures as homemade biscuits at Sunday dinner with family.

Page numbers printed in orange ink on bottom right of each card. Housed in blue cardstock trifold with velcro closure. Tittle printed on cover in blue ink. Signed and numbered by the artist. This piece printed and designed by Lauren Emeritz is based on the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights from 1948. Emeritz printed excerpts from the Declaration with her usual attention to detail - color, type, layout and material. She created the prints by hand using traditional printing presses and typographic forms combined with some modern techniques. She begins with article 01 "ALL HUMANS ARE FREE & EQUAL" and ends with article 30 "NO ONE MAY DENY THE RIGHTS OF OTHERS". The portfolio of prints is a testament to her internship in letterpress design at Hatch Show Print in Nashville, Tennessee in 2017. The Hatch…

Annemarie Munn: "The news here and now is full of skyrocketing housing costs, of the mass evictions that make way for these increases, of the developments going up and the changes to the landscape that are coming, but soon the buildings will be finished, the stories will be replaced by a new set of stories, and what is now in transition will simply be fact." New Paltz, New York:: Amberwood Press,, 2014.. Edition of 200. 11 x 14"; 18 pages Digital offset. Spiral bound with pictorial laminated covers. Nava Atlas: "When I began working on Deconstructing Elsie, my purpose was to create a visual exploration of the dark side of the dairy industry in a nutshell, from the heartbreaking abuse of cows (as well as the discarded calves that become veal) to pollution of soil and water, dissemination of false information, and much more in between. What I didn't expect was to find such a huge intersection between the stark facts about Big Dairy and ideas about oppression as they pertain to patriarchy and misogyny. Altering midcentury Elsie the Cow advertisements seemed a perfect vehicle for presenting the disturbing themes in these intertwined subjects with a bit of levity. "In the preface of the feminist classic, The Sexual Politics of Meat, Carol J. Adams writes, 'What, or precisely who, we eat is determined by the patriarchal politics…

Description:
London:: Bookery,, 2004.. Edition of 100. Production: cover: digital four colour printing; text: mono digital printing; matt laminate; perfect bound. This book explores the uncomfortable subject of suicide, the ultimate mal-adaptation to reality. In making a direct parallel between life and narrative, this book describes the baffling reality of a life cut short at the hand of its author. Taking as its starting point Freuds writings in Mourning and Melancholia, it probes the shifting realities we encounter in extreme psychological circumstances: in this case, that of being in love, and of suicide. In both, we are subject to massive distortions of reality, and are temporarily or permanently overwhelmed by an external / internal object (person/thing) that is either to be enjoyed, or suffered. For the suicide, the ultimate solution is to do away with the oppressive internal object and so achieve a life on their own terms. Of course, a rather high price is paid in the achievement of…

The term 'Delta' also refers to Lower Egypt, where the Nile River delta is located. This delta is one of the world's largest, stretching from Alexandria to Port Said. However, rising sea levels put much of the northern delta, including the historic port city of Alexandria, at risk of being submerged in the Mediterranean. A darning needle with pretensions tries to hold her own as she is shunted from a maid's apron into a kitchen sink. Andersen's cautionary tale of overweening pride is not without a certain grudging admiration for this attribute as a survival tool." Peter Malutzki:…

Each book has a scene/a story printed on the exterior of the slipcase. The accordion book carries the imagery created for the written narrative. As with the others in this series mans role in the scheme of the universe, particularly on earth, is considered. As the moon rolls in front of the sun creating an eclipse the writer says that nature feels unordered, unexpected, even animalistic. Man is but a tiny tiny speck.
