"The prints, by any means, do not constitute a history of the CRISTIADA, but are only images which came to mind during the reading of the material available on this very important but largely suppressed or forgotten period in the saga of the turbulent history of western Mexico. The cruel attempt to destroy the Catholic church in the country by the dictator Elias Calles left many dead on both sides of the conflict, Army and peons alike.

Louise Neaderland: "The artist was visiting a friend in St. Petersburg in August of 1991 at the time of the coup. She managed to take many photographs of what was happening on the streets and came across a series of picture post cards of 1914 St. Petersburg. This book documents the scene in St. Petersburg during the coup of August 9, 1991, contrasts it with the 1914 images, and adds news clippings, conspicuously not from Russian news media, which barely mentioned what was going on.

John Risseeuw: "Through a victim assistance agency, Nicaraguan landmine victim Agustín Matey Ramos sent me a red t-shirt along with his story of injury. His shirt was beaten and pulp-painted onto the base paper, made from burlap coffee sacks from the region (he was injured while working on a coffee plantation) and shredded Nicaraguan, Soviet, and American currency. Imagery includes coffee plant diagrams and ghostly landmines of American and Soviet manufacture, those used during the Contra War of the 1980s.

In NY state, as long as an elderly person can read the eye chart, the State cannot refuse to renew his license regardless of his mental or physical condition."
