SECOND PRINTING, circa 1839, pamphlet, approximately 185 x 100 mm, 7¼ x 4 inches, folding hand coloured frontispiece, pages: [1-4], 5-24, some pages not numbered, bound in the publisher's original green printed wrappers. Spine worn with loss of paper (see image), slight offset to title page from frontispiece, otherwise a very good clean copy. An uncommon cookery pamphlet, mostly on meat and fish with a few recipes for puddings. The title page gives references to the various illustrations on the frontispiece. See William Cagle, A Matter of Taste, page 648, No. 898. He states: "The back wrapper lists Church-yard Gleanings", this title not listed on the back wrapper of our copy. J. & J. Colman's, (1940).. Circa 1940, 140 x 105 mm, 5½ x 4 inches, colour illustrated paper wraps with ark and animals, 17 pages including inside of lower cover. Attractive jolly coloured illustrations throughout. Different animals sing their songs with much reference to Colman's products. Cook sings of Krusto (pastry maker) and Ham, Shem and Japhet praise Waverley Oats. No inscriptions, tiny closed tear to lower corner of upper cover, very neatly repaired, staple very slightly rusty, otherwise near Fine clean crisp copy.
