Description:
Amazingly
well preserved vintage volume by a popular author. Dr. Schaeffer examines the first 11 chapters of Genesis. Topics covered include: creation, fall of man, Noah, the Flood, Abraham, etc. This is an easy-to-read 187 page paperback in excellent condition; 1st edition, 1977—6th printing. The back cover states: "Genesis is a book of origins--the origin of the universe, the origin of life and the origin of man. It places man in his cosmic setting, shows his particular uniquness, explains his wonder and his flaw, and begins to trace the flow of human history through space and time. Many today, however, view this book as a collection of myths, useful for understanding the Hebrew mind, perhaps, but certainly not a record of what really happened. Dr. Francis A. Schaeffer challenges that view and shows how the first eleven chapters of Genesis stand as a solid, space-time basis for answering the tough questions posed by modern man."

Description:
Though read, there are limited markings in this must-have reasonably priced New Testament commentary on Philippians. Scholarly, yet easy-to-read, Robertson provides verse-by-verse exposition of Philippians. The flyleaf states: "Dr. Robertson brings to the study of any New Testament passage the ripest Greek scholarship that the world knows. But there is another quality for interpreting the Word of God, equally as necessary…sympathetic spiritual insight…. Dr. Robertson hs also this qualification for unfolding to us not the thought alone but the feeling also that makes forever living the epistle of the great apostle to the nation…. Each chapter treats a section of the epistle—explaining, illustrating, and applying the biblical text. The happiness associated with being a Christian…is emphasized throughout." First published, January 1917 by Revel, this is a 149-page hardback Broadman Press undated edition (most likely 1959 edition), "Revised and Edited by W. C. Strickland."

Description:
This is considered a classic volume as it examines the life of Saint Peter from his early days as an impetuous disciple/follower of Jesus through to his dynamic ministry in the early days of the church; hardback with 291 pages in an undated volume. Review: "In a series of concise chapters, the author traces the development of the disciple from "Simon the Learner" into "Peter, the Man of Rock". In each chapter some historic incident is reviewed; the moral principle which it illustrates is stated; and then is made the application to life and experience. The reader is stimulated to seek a close and faithful fellowship with Christ." (Review in the Princeton by Charles R. Erdman)

This Baker Bookhouse 2nd printing (April 1977), was reproduced from the edition issued in Edinburg in 1873. It is part of the Baker Religious Heritage Library and is considered a classic.
One website states this about Alexander's work: "The work before us exhibits no lack of accurate scholarship. The basis of Prof. Alexander's work, is the Commentary of Henjrstenberg, whose results he has compactly embodied, without being a servile copyist. In respect to the Messianic Psalms, it is gratifying to find the author steadfastly eschewing those loose… Read More
