Old, neat tape reinforcement at hinges of two plates, some foxing to margins, else clean internally. Early children's work from the American author and Journalist from New York, Sarah Addington. Beautifully illustrated by Gertrude Kay (1884-1939), who was a student of Howard Pyle and worked mainly in children's books and magazines during the golden age of illustration.

Nicely preserved and scarce Wyoming promotional, issued as part of the Agricultural Series (No. 10) by the U.S. Railroad Administration.  Copiously illustrated with photos of the state's scenery and agricultural industries from livestock to farmland.  We date this publication by the governor's message at the front, written by Robert D. Carey who took office in 1918 and served until 1922.   OCLC cites only a copy at the Newberry Library in Chicago.

Puzzle bright, clean, and with minimal wear, envelope with some folds and staining. Charming advertisement for Pro-phy-lac-tic tooth brushes in the form of a jig saw puzzle given out as a free premium with purchase of the tufted model.  The envelope shows 5 sizes of the brush, which at the time was the company's most popular product.  The other side shows the image by Saturday Evening Post illustrator, Frances Tipton Hunter (1896-1957), with detailed instructions on how to complete the puzzle.  A wonderful and uncommon piece of Massachusetts advertising history.  .

[Bellingham, WA]: N.p., 1927. Broadsheet advertisement, 18x13cm, [2]pp. Printed in two colors with a photograph of the group on front. Horizontal crease down the middle, few small edge tears, couple spots to rear else nicely preserved. Printed advertisement for this traveling quartet managed by an Arthur D. Lawrence in Los Angeles.  The concert, given by the "4 Guaranteed Grouch Removers, Kings of Harmony," took place at the Garden Street Methodist Church in Bellingham, WA on March 11, 1927.  The Bellingham Herald the following week stated the group "...gave an interesting program of musical and comic numbers... The Piano numbers by S. R. Stewart were especially pleasing to the local audience." We find little mention of this particular troupe, and similarly, little material documenting their performances.  .

Blue cloth boards, spine lettered in gilt in illustrated jacket. Nearly fine. Signed copy of Dr. Robert L. Prince's (1930-2019) history of the contributions of African Americans to the history of Dallas.  Prince spent 30 years researching the work which he published as an antithesis to the standard histories he read as a student in the 30s and 40s, and which did not include any information on the role of the African slave in the development of the city.  Prince began his OB-GYN practice in 1964 and was a staunch advocate for women's reproductive rights, serving on the board of Planned Parenthood.  He was the first African American appointed to a Dallas County Board.   .
