Description:
Published by Smith, Elder & Co., London; 1896. 2 volumes.
Bound in maroon half calf bindings with gilt title and detail to the spine. There is some wear to the edges of the binding and the spine of vol 1 is separating down the front edge. The front board of volume 2 is present but completely separated. However, with some tlc and careful repairs, this binding would once again be very smart.
Inside, the pages are clean and bright with only a little toning and the occasional age spot, very good condition for a book of this age. Some quotes on Browning have been neatly added in ink to the ffep of vol. 1.
In all, these volumes have the potential to make a very smart set of Browning's works, with just a little tlc and some repairs, they could be returned to their former glory.
