A wonderful collection of sketches and anecdotes.

Covers are worn and scuffed, joints and hinges splitting but holding, preliminary pages foxed and text lightly foxed, endpapers missing, number written on pastedown, illustrations present and all with tissue-guards, and text is complete.

Covers and frontispiece detached but present, backstrip missing, owner's name, bookplate and pencil notations on front pastedown, bookplate of Military Historical Society of Massachusetts on rear pastedown, text is mildly age-toned, edges darkened, but text is otherwise quite sound and clean. Humorous account written phonetically in the local vernacular.

Boards detached, front board and spine missing, board scuffed, endpapers heavily darkened around edges, first few and last few pages have some light staining and foxing, the text is mildly toned. The text block is solid, and this book is a good candidate for rebinding. Howes B-114.

Francfort: Jean Gottlieb Garbe, 1765. Hardcover. Good. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. Six volumes, 6 tomes, each volume approximately 60-70 pages, text in French. Couvertures rigides, Paper covered boards, paper spine labels, engraved frontispiece in each volume. Bon état. Light wear and light soiling to covers, spines rubbed and one chipped, water stain to spine of one volume and first 2 leaves, contents are age-darkened and with an occasional spot, former owner's name in pencil on front pastedowns. Bindings are all tight, and books appear to be unread.

London: Robert Hale Limited, 1943. First Edition . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. 220pp. Black cloth. SIGNED. Corners and spine ends rubbed, white spotting to rear cover, contents age-toned but clean. Inscription on the front free endpaper reads : "For Albert. All the Best from Hedley." and it is dated August 1943.

Clinton, South Carolina: The Jacobs Press, 1945. Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 114pp. Marroon buckram, gilt lettering. Covers are clean and sound, mild fading to top edges, contents are tanned but clean and unmarked. Dust jacket is missing 2 pieces along to edge, partially darkened, edge-chipped and worn along folds, but is essentially complete. The cotton manufacturing process, told in a clear and concise way. A very early edition and not a recent reprint.

Blue cloth binding with light waterstain at foot of spine and lower back cover. Dust jacket water stained along spine and back, small chip at top and some edgewear. Interior very good.

Boston: Higgins, Bradley & Dayton, 1859. First Edition . Hardcover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 236pp. Paper covered boards, cloth backed. Covers soiled and worn, paper peeling from corner of front board, some loss of cover print, contents foxed, binding is tight, former owner's name and date (1859) on front free endpaper, some soiling to endpapers. Evidently very few of this title by this author were published.

Half morocco, marbled boards, gilt lettering and gilt decoration to spine, leather spine label. Folding map and 7 of 10 engravings. Front cover detached but present, ex-library label on front pastedown, edgewear and scuffing, half-inch circular chip to spine, contents mildly age-darkened. Despite the foregoing imperfections, thiis is still an attractive little book.

Edges worn and water damage to portions of covers, almost imperceptible evidence of internal damage, spine slightly darkened, front hinge tender, pages age-toned. 128 pages of color maps, population statistics and 160 pages of gazetteer. Many plans of major cities.
