Each lithograph is 19 inches by 14 inches and is numbered 326/500 in pencil; some are signed in the plate, but none are pencil-signed. Accompanying the prints is a folder that includes brief biographies of the artists and titles of each of the 2 lithos by each. All are housed in the original paper portfolio. Worcester, Massachusetts: White & Bagley Company, 1940. 3 3/8" by 6 1/8". An original vintage ink blotter card advertising Oilzum, one of the first name-brand automotive motor oils. The blotter also advertised the Owl Motor Company in Winona, Minnesota. Owl later became Tousley Ford and still exists in Winona as Sugar Loaf Ford. There is some discoloration and slight abrasion on the verso of the card, though it clearly was never used to blot ink. The color advertisement on the recto remains reasonably clean and bright.. The Natural History Museum, London holds 126 of the watercolors by Barbut that he painted for this book. Taos, New Mexico: Anna Barry, 1946. Original serigraph/ silkscreen print, signed and titled in pencil by the artist. The image is 5 inches by 7 1/4 inches on a sheet that is 6 inches by 8 1/2 inches. The Taos Pueblo people have lived in New Mexico more than 1000 years. The serigraph portrays Taos Pueblo male dancers performing a traditional ceremonial dance in which men wear simulated horsetails--they originally wore real horsetails! The serigraph is by American painter and printmaker Anna Barry (1907-2001). With her husband and fellow artist Ira Moscowitz, she lived in Taos, New Mexico from 1944 until 1955. Pietro Santi Bartoli (1635-1700) was an Italian painter and engraver whose many works included 78 engravings that reproduced the spiral relief engravings on Rome's victory column of Marcus Aurelius; His book of engravings have been invaluable to many art historians. The plate offered here is from the 1704 edition and is in very good condition: clean and bright, with full margins.
