The front endpaper and half title page have light creases, and the title page has a small area of soiling. Inscribed by the author on the title page as follows: "April 1966/Boy Howdy! I hope/you & Tressa become/good friends/Sincerely/Evelyn Bachmann". A story for juveniles, set on a West Texas ranch in the 1920's. Illustrations by Lorence Bjorklund.

The Auk, 1926. First Edition . Soft cover. Very Good/No Jacket. Offprint from "The Auk," Vol. XLIII, No. 2, April 1926, very good in stapled wraps. A four page article with a photographic plate of the subject owl, offprinted separately. Cover and interior pages are a little browned. Inscribed by the author on the front cover: "To Louise/Best Wishes/Bill". Baerg was a professor and natural historian at the University of Arkansas. He died in 1980. A scarce, ephemeral item.

The jacket has numerous closed edge tears, and two chips, one at the bottom of the front gutter and the other at the head of the spine. Most of the "s" in the first word of the title is missing because of the second chip. The jacket spine is also darkened. Includes illustrations and seven maps (with the map at the rear being a folding map), bibliography and an index; 498 pages. Laid in is an article about the making of a television special about Lewis & Clark's expedition, and a newspaper review of this book.
