Carved wood covers, 12 color paintings each mounted with silk brocade border, English & Chinese text, 15 x 21 cm., very good, bit of normal cupping to cover, contents clean. S C A R C E A charming work, each painting is opposed with the text, and covers such famous women as P'an Fu-Jen, Li-Chuan, Mu-lan, Meng Ts'ai-Jen, Wu Chiang-Hsien et al. Each is painted in color, with an excellent and steady hand, attention to fine details, superb backgrounds with charming flowers and other plants and views. The women are portrayed in traditional silk flowing gowns and elaborate coiffeur. Full text in both English & Chinese. * The front wooden covers have a circular Chinese character "FU" carved and painted green, meaning "Wealth." Delicately bound in traditional Chinese style, gilt edges, an excellent example of their book arts. A wonderful addition to any collection. * .
