Textblock also foxed intermittently, with toning to preliminaries and top edge; deckled fore edges; ownership inscription on ffep. Very Good in Good dustwrapper. An anthology of passages from James Branch Cabell's Beyond Life, Figures of Earth, The Silver Stallion, Jurgen, and others in the escapist/fantasy author's extensive body of work. The Virginia-born author reached the peak of his popularity in the 1920's but hit something of a decline as the world inched closer to another World War and literary trends began favoring more realistic works. Nevertheless, he continued publishing extensively and left a legacy that remains, especially in his native Richmond.
