Description:
McGregor, Iowa: C. T. Peick & Co, 1910. Staplebound. Very good. Oblong thin folio. An unusually long panoramic viewbook, measuring about 14" x 4.5". 17 color panoramic illustrations of picturesque and historical locales along the mighty Mississippi River, with 12pp. of printed tissue leaves, two of which introduce the material, while the others contain captions and summaries of the panoramas. Side-stapled (apparently as issued), and with some creasing and short marginal tearing to front cover and a few leaves, but otherwise clean and sound, which is unusual for so fragile and ephemeral a publication; overall very good. There seems to be little consistency among the few known copies of this panorama. OCLC records just a few holdings, each of which offers a different number of panoramic views contained within. Note that only the copy held at the Minnesota Historical Society contains the same numebr of plates and text leaves; all other holdings note far fewer panoramas (8, 7, and 5). A scarce and…

Description:
Fort Belvoir, VA: Camouflage Section, the Engineer Board (US Army), 1942. Staplebound. Near fine. Small quarto, unpaginated (32pp.), illustrated. A crisp, clean copy, near fine, in the publisher's stapled wraps. Some pencil writing to wraps, else clean. Very uncommon and well-illustrated WWII military volume which gives provisional designs and theoritical principles to undergird a military barracks/airfield which would be camouflaged as typical American buildings, like homes or barns. probably one of thousands of similar studies which may have been used if the combat of World War II had come to American shores. OCLC locates three copies; 2 at US military institutions, and another in Canada. Rare, and likely of interest to architecture enthusiasts or geography scholars as much as military historians.

New York: Villard Books, 1994. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/fine. Octavo, 253pp., illustrated. First printing, per Random House's style of the period, with number line down to 2 and the words "First edition" appearing below (Villard is an imprint of Random House). Description:
London: Headley Brothers Ltd, 1917. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Octavo, 106pp., plus advertising leaf at rear. A good copy in the publisher's plain boards with labels to front board and spine, as issued. General wear to extremities, spine gnetly cocked, but internally clean and sound. This copy with a fantastic association, SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Cannan in the year of publication to would-be Prime Minister of the United Kingdom J. Ramsay MacDonald: "J. Ramsay MacDonald from Gilbert Cannan 1917." The connection between the two figures is significant. Cannan, who had been employed as a secretary by author J. M. Barrie, developed close relationships with many of the important modernist literary figures of his day. He then became a conscientious objector during World War I, which is likely what brought him into contact with the then-MP MacDonald, who was making waves in the Labour Party and in British society for his own vocal opposition to the war. Despite Cannan's illustrious life, he battled…

[no place]: [no imprint], 1903. First Edition. Staplebound. Very good +. Octavo, 39pp. A very good or better copy in the publisher's stapled wraps. Faint vertical crease throughout; long ago flattened. Mild corner wear; contents clean. Cannon, the "Reunion Secretary" for the unit, was in charge of publication, and he has INSCRIBED the volume on the title page (above his printed name): "To Comrade H. A. Smith, with compliments." Holograph inscription on the front wrap, which reads "comps H. A. S. to A. B. S." An extemely scarce pamphlet, which was no doubt produced in small numbers. Company K of the 150th Ohio Volunteer Infantry was organized out of a group of volunteers almost entirely from Oberlin College, who answered the Ohio Governor's call for 35,000 troops to serve for 100 days during the summer of 1864 to defend existing Union railway lines and supply houses in the Mid-Atlantic, including Washington. The regiment fought in a number of small skirmishes, as well as the Battle of Fort Stevens,…
