An unusually long panoramic viewbook, measuring about 14" x 4.5". 17 color panoramic illustrations of picturesque and historical locales along the mighty Mississippi River, with 12pp. of printed tissue leaves, two of which introduce the material, while the others contain captions and summaries of the panoramas. Side-stapled (apparently as issued), and with some creasing and short marginal tearing to front cover and a few leaves, but otherwise clean and sound, which is unusual for so fragile and ephemeral a publication; overall very good. There seems to be little consistency among the few known copies of this panorama. OCLC records just a few holdings, each of which offers a different number of panoramic views contained within. Contents clean and crisp. In a very good dust jacket with some creasing at the spien head. SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Cagney on the front free endpaper: "For Frank Sutherland, Best, James Cagney." Cagney used a slightly weak pen to execute the inscription, but it's entirely clear and legible. Someone has dated the inscription at the bottom of the page with another pen (2/4/78.).

A very good copy in the original red cloth, lightly bumped at the corners and somewhat rubbed. INSCRIBED by Callwell on the front free endpaper: "Presented to Oglethorpe University. Chas. E. Callwell (Brig General?) 4 May 1920." A very scarce inscription from this important British officer, who organized the Dardanelles campaign and was further known for his activities in the British colonies at the height of their empire. Though ex-library, a highly desirable copy.

A crisp, clean copy, near fine, in the publisher's stapled wraps. Some pencil writing to wraps, else clean. Very uncommon and well-illustrated WWII military volume which gives provisional designs and theoritical principles to undergird a military barracks/airfield which would be camouflaged as typical American buildings, like homes or barns. probably one of thousands of similar studies which may have been used if the combat of World War II had come to American shores. OCLC locates three copies; 2 at US military institutions, and another in Canada. Rare, and likely of interest to architecture enthusiasts or geography scholars as much as military historians.

A rather nice set of the American edition, which seems to be rather more uncommon than the UK edition.

This copy with a fantastic association, SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Cannan in the year of publication to would-be Prime Minister of the United Kingdom J. Ramsay MacDonald: "J. Ramsay MacDonald from Gilbert Cannan 1917." The connection between the two figures is significant. Cannan, who had been employed as a secretary by author J. M. Barrie, developed close relationships with many of the important modernist literary figures of his day. He then became a conscientious objector during World War I, which is likely what brought him into contact with the then-MP MacDonald, who was making waves in the Labour Party and in British society for his own vocal opposition to the war.
