NY: Street & Smith , 1948. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Good+/No Jacket. Pairing these old timers because both have short stories by John D. MacDonald, a favorite writer of mine. Also present are Van Vogt (1st of 4 part "The Players of A") Sturgeon, De Camp, and Hubbard as well as sometime Hubbard collaborator Winter. Decent copies, browned as usual, text complete, Aug.1949 has a bit of spine tape, Oct. '48 has a cover crease. Both reasonably sound but showing the making/age in customary ways. Photo will follow.

Spine is taped and a date is lightly rubber stamped front cover. Text complete but, browned as usual, ad for writing re US competitor to Sputnik back panel. Has writing by Garrett (Silverberg was co-author under this pen name), photo will follow.

Recently, we acquired a large group of ASFs from the 50s most, as these vary in condition from Good to VG using traditional standards. Please bear with me, as the descriptions will be by someone unaccustomed to this format. I will hope to make up in detail for any failure of experience. The magazines are, I think, the 1st appearance of TDL, it is serialized in the Mar. Apr. May issues which are this group ( RR is pen name of Silverberg and Garrett) Silverberg's bibliography shows this written in '57 and done in hardcover in '59 by Gnome. I could be mistaken, but the 1953 copy online seems like a misdating. Garrett has the cover for May, a short novel called "What's Eating You?" All are text browned more than I generally see, all have wear (e.g. spine; May has tape and the cover is loosening). That said, the cover art is fantastic. The listed title is offered with others from course work from a California agricultural college in the 70s. Some loose covers, creasing, and scrubbiness are present. The other 4 are Simpson's "The Mechanics of Shoeing Horses"/Knowles"Care of Horse's Legs and Corrective Horseshoeing"/Russell's "Scientific Horseshoeing"/and a Thompsons Vet "Anatomy and Phsiology" stapled handout.
