Baltimore: Friedenwald Company, 1895. Cloth. Good. Bound in maroon cloth, text describes 10 different versions of the French poem, 93pp. Each version is decorated with a vignette scene. The authorship of this very old (possibly 14th. century) poem is discussed and 6 possible authors considered. In spite of the antiquity of the poem, the first text in print appeared in 1835. Owner's bookplate inside front board, the title page has been reattachedand a tear (no loss) on p.75/76 has been repaired. The original softback wrapper is bound in at the end of the book. Binding is partly faded.
