Clark (1896 - 1984) was the youngest 4-Star General in WWII and also served in WWI and Korea. Graduating two years behind Eisenhower at West Point, the two had close camaraderie at the Academy which lasted throughout Clark's career. He commanded the landings at Salerno and Anzio against the forces of German Gen. Kesselring. She remained active in civic issues following the Presidents passing, though not always on the right side of history, being actively involved against women's suffrage. She was the First Lady from 1923 to 1929. She graduated from the University of Vermont in 1902 with a bachelor of arts degree in teaching and joined the Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech in Northampton, Massachusetts to teach deaf children to communicate by lip reading, rather than by signing.
