This is an antique beekeeping book, "Fifty Years Among the Bees" by C.C. Miller. 1911 1st edition; The A.I. Root Company; Medina, Ohio. There are black & white photographs throughout. Decorative floral end papers. This enlarged edition ("about one eighth being new matter") follows the 1886 publication of "A Year Among the Bees," and the 1902 publication of "Forty Years Among the Bees" by Miller. There is a biographical sketch of the author at the front, and an Index and list of Illustrations at the back. There are five advertising pages at the back for books on beekeeping.
Condition:There are a few small stains on the covers. Bright gilt lettering on the spine. Tight binding with no loose pages. There is a crack at the rear hinge between two end papers resulting in the back cover being a bit shaky. Foxing to the front and rear end papers. With Notes and Introduction by Henry Rowe and T. Jefferson Coolidge. Gray was a Massachusetts politician who went on to be the private Secretary of John Quincy Adams. This book is a first-hand account of his visit with Jefferson at Monticello.Condition:Foxing on the covers and spine; sharp corners; bright gilt lettering on the spine and decorations on the covers. This edition features three color chromolithograph plates (one plate is missing), and the original John Tenniel illustrations in black & white.Condition:There are cracks at both the front and back hinges with the webbing exposed resulting in both covers being shaky. Light soiling to the covers. Cloth tears at the top/bottom edges of the spine and at the cover corners. There is a 1.5" cloth tear at the bottom-left corner of the spine. There is an inscription written in pen dated 1901 on the front end paper. One color plate is missing - the color plate after page 112 is not present. The pages are in nice condition - mostly clean with only an occasional small, light smudge and stain; pages 25, 29 & 119 each have a small tear at the outer edge. Overall the book is in Fair condition due to the hinge cracks and cloth tears.

"Sylvie and Bruno" (1889) with "Sylvie and Bruno Concluded" (1893) by LEWIS CARROLL. Each book is a first edition published by Macmillan and Co. in London. Both books contain 46 illustrations by Harry Furniss. Gilt page edges on all sides. "Concluded" contains the chapters VII and VIII errors in the Table of Contents, as called for for the first edition. There are three pages of advertisements at the back of "Sylvie and Bruno," and five pages of advertisements at the back of "Concluded."Condition:Some very light soiling to the covers and spines; the red cloth on the spines has somewhat faded. Sharp cover corners. Both books are tightly bound with no cracks and no loose pages. The insides of both books are in terrific condition - the pages are clean and nearly appear unread with only some tanning to the title pages from the tissue guards over the frontispieces. Description:
"Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" with "Through the Looking-Glass" by LEWIS CARROLL. Circa 1940's (there is no date of publication stated); Illustrated Editions Company; New York. This edition features the original JOHN TENNIEL illustrations for both stories.

Condition:
Some light soiling to the covers; the gilt lettering on the spine has partially faded. Sharp cover corners. There are 2 tiny cloth tears at the right edge of the front cover. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Nice interior with only some occasional foxing to random pages at the outer edge; page 200 has a 1" tear at the outer edge. The half title page and rear end paper each have some tanning. Overall the book is in Very Good condition.
