[Amsterdam], [Stempelplaats], [1979]. . First edition, 100 unnumbered copies; small 4to (185 mm x 185 mm, 7¼ x 7¼ in); thick synthetic felt leaves with rubber stamped illustrations of boxers in red and purple, title in black; stapled and bound with black adhesive tape, minor creasing to last leaf, near-fine; 11 leaves. Ulises Carrión is a key figure in Mexican conceptual art as an artist, editor, curator, and theorist of the post-1960s international artistic avant-garde. In 1975, he founded Other Books and So (1975-1979), an artist-run bookshop and gallery in Amsterdam which distributed artists' publications and multiples. Carrión's interest in print culture and media led him to engage with mail art and, eventually, performance, film and video.'The soft touch of the page, in contrast to the strong punch of the imagery, makes for a potent allusion to the exchange and repression of male sexuality' (Books by Artists). Description:
Moscow, Detskaia Literatura, 1974. . First edition; 4to (22 x 17 cm); illustrated throughout with some full-page; publisher's original pictorial boards, a very good copy. A wonderful translation with beautiful illustrations of one of the most popular children's stories of all time. Zakhoder's version was hugely popular in the Soviet era and is still one of the standard Russian translations. As well as translating directly from the original text, he also added new content to make it easier for Russian children to understand. Zakhoder did publish his own works for children but he was mainly celebrated (and awarded the Russian state prize) for his translations which also included Winnie-the-Pooh and Mary Poppins.
