First edition 1st printing, Near Fine book with slight white line of about a quarter of an inch along edge of spine and a small spot/rub near top corner of front board, in a Very Good slipcase with pictorial paste-down title label, shelf wear, rubbing, sun fade along edges, particularly back, with a small white smudge front panel near the spine. No dust jacket as issued. This is the stated First Printing of the short story that was issued in a very large book club edition, also in slipcase.

Fine minus, unread book that is lightly crimped at top of spine, in a Fine minus jacket with a very light scratch and slight rubbing to back panel. This was a cheaply produced book and is fairly scarce in such nice condition. This novel was originally thought to be Carter’s autobiographically story of being an orphan raised by his Cherokee Indian grandparents. Carter claimed to be part Cherokee and was thought to be a cowboy drifter. However, he fooled his publisher and most of his readers with his fictional account. Carter was actually living a double life and had been an avid segregationist and a speech writer for Alabama Governor George Wallace.  The 1992 story, The Real Education of Little Tree (published in Texas Monthly), covers the history of Carter (who was actually Asa Earl Carter) and his fake autobiography – a fascinating story that is stranger than fiction.

Fine unread limited first edition in a Fine jacket, this copy also contains a laid-in chapbook by Cave, Desperate Character. Title contains 11 previously uncollected short stories by Cave. This is copy 241 of 250 such copies and is signed by Cave on the limitation page.

This copy inscribed on the half title page for Barbara, in Spanish, signed by Cisneros and dated 19.4.91, Las Cruces. Laid-in is a brochure for the 1991 Puerto del Sol Writing Conference in Las Cruces, at New Mexico State University. The schedule indicates that Cisneros gave a Fiction Seminar on the afternoon of April 19, 1991, apparently where this book was signed.

Included with the book is a promotional flyer issued by Constable in 2002. Approximately 8 x 12 inches, stiff, glossy, full-color, printed paper flyer. One side advertises the availability of Ragtime in Simla, The second in the detective Joe Sandilands Series." The reverse side announces the availability of "The Last Kashmiri Rose" in paperback and features an essay by Cleverly titled Evolution of the Rose. The flyer is signed by Clevery above her name on "Ragtime." side of the flyer. Ink from her signature is partially visible on the reverse side.

First lettered limited edition signed by Cleverly and H. R. F. Keating (author of a preface appreciation) on the limitation page, this is copy L of 12 lettered copies for private distribution. Fine book bound in quarter leather and marbled boards, in clear acetate jacket, that is as new and unread.
