Farrar, Straus, 1949. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. Near-fine with small rubbed spot on front board and very slight foxing to page edges, otherwise bright and clean inside and out. In a very good plus dust jacket (price intact) with minor rubbing to corners and light fading to spine. Variant dust jacket with completely different cover art than the jacket normally seen. New York: Vixen Press, 1953. 1st Edition . Very rare risque golf mystery title. Near-fine with slight foxing to endpapers, otherwise bright and clean. In a very good plus dust jacket ($2.00 price intact) with minor rubbing and a small letter written in ink on the reverse near the top of the spine (invisible from the exterior). "A sordid tale of love, deception, murder and golf. Hugh Alton, the (literally) cocky golf enthusiast and Oakcrest Country Club's most popular and powerful member, is found murdered. The list of suspects has Mike Barnett right at the top. Mike had embarrassed Hugh by besting him in a round on the links and by bedding Hugh's lovely wife, Marge. The autopsy reveals Hugh was hit with a four-iron and lo and behold Mike's four is missing. Mike isn't the only suspect though. The list also includes a young golf caddy and his girlfriend, the club sluts, and even the club board's president.
