Albany: E & E Hosford, 1821 Bound in full period calf, this was the standard math textbook for the first half of the 19th century; missing front end papers, [i]-vi, [7]-240. Calf is worn but solid, pages foxed, 2 leaves proud, ink names inside front cover and on rear endpapers.

Boston: Self, 1850 Bound in period cloth with cover detached from textblock, but presentable and ready to be reattached. The 307 pages of text are bright and clean, two fold-out illustrations are detached but present and have some soil and chipping.

Philadelphia: Henry C. Lea, 1867 Fourth edition, revised and enlarged. There is some water spotting to the leather but still quite nice.

London : John Offer, 1819 Bound in later blue half morocco over purple boards, red morocco spine title, title and trim in gilt, top edge gilt, 505 pp. Truly exceptional copy with rubbing at extremities, and spot on front cover. There is quite minor foxing and water spots to the first few leaves and offsetting from the frontis [tissue guard still present and in exceptional condition]. An unread copy in attractive binding.

Indiana Historical Society, 1938 This is an 112 page book on early Indiana railroad history, clean, bright and tight.

Lewis Publishing Co., 1904 Nicely bound in blind stamped leather with gilt titles with all edges gilt, this 813 page book puts to shame the later reprints in quality, appearance, and the patina new books just can't have. There is some wear to the spine extremities and rubbing to the joints, which, in my opinion, add to more than detract from its appeal. This book is the former property of the First National Bank of Fremont.

Appleton, 1871 Red brick cloth decorated in black double border with circular device in each corner, spine decorated in gilt which is quite bright.436 plus 12 pp ads. First issue with errata containing 16 items and a postscrript to volume I. One corner of the cover is lightly bumped and lightly discolored, apparently the victim of a few drops of water. Contents fine.

New York: Appleton, 1864 "A new edition, revised and augmented by the author" on title page, three quotes on page facing title page.. Internally a fresh clean copy with two small fox spots on each of the first few leaves and gone by page ix, mostly unread. Respined with new spine covering, retaining the original title. [i] -xi, [4]-440, 2 pp ads.

One folding plate with a small split at the fold. Spine decorations in gilt which are quite bright. Beautiful copy with traces of rubbing at extremities.

Indianapolis: B F Bowen, 1916 Bound in half brown leather over yellow marbled boards, aeg, 517, 668 pp., illustrated with engravings of prominent persons and reproductions of early photos. Extremities rubbed, else good to very good copies. Why buy a reprint when you can purchase a scarce original set?

Boston: William F. Gill & Co., 1875 Bound in green ribbed, blindstamped cloth with elaborate gilt titles, which are quite bright. Book shows wear at tips, else very good.

Bonanza, 1957 Near Fine/Near Fine. Thorough exam of Stuart's enigmatic personality, using contemporary letters, dispatches and post war reminiscences. Jacket is peice clipped with a nick to the head of spine, book has one corner bump.

Harpe, 1894 Decorative Cloth. Near Fine. First Edition. Nice bright red cloth with gilt and a white coat of arms on front. Spine is a little rubbed, a trace of dampstaining on back and three pages have a spot of soil. Exceptionally bright copy.

Chicago: Coburn, 1884 Bound in brown cloth with black and gilt decorations, marbled text block edges. This is the true first with 1884 on both the title and copyright page. Covers are water spotted not affecting the contents, internally very good or better. 346 pp plus 4 pp ads.

Doubleday, 1975 Stated first edition, book is unread. There is foxing on the top edge only. Jacket is fine or better.
