Description:
A series of learned and informative essays on the history of U.S. policy toward Russian from the time of the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917 to the Viet Nam era. In sum, the U.S. was negatively disposed toward the emerging Soviet Union, and largely based its choices on the limitations of trade the the USSR placed on the international community. Also at work in U.S. government calculations was the Bolshevik failure to allow for the self determination of nations through voting and human rights protections. The general bias of these essays is toward the American left, but not necessarily for the left wing Communist alternative.. Some penned underlinings in text and name of owner inside front cover. Of particular interest are my notes taken while listening to a Radio Havanna broadcast in March, 1971, when there was a worry about censorship of the American news regarding Viet Nam.
