Ten erotic drypoint etchings with gilding, on vellum Arches paper, each signed "Dali" and numbered in pencil, lower right. Loose as issued in printed wrapper; red cloth clamshell case. Limited edition, number CLXXVII of CC (200) copies on japon nacre from an edition of 300. With a certificate of authenticity from the publisher attesting to the genuineness of the 10 engravings. Micheler Lopsinger notes that the original plan was to illustrate a more erotic text, but this was rejected in favor of the present one. The etchings were reworked and amplified in drypoint by Dali, and all impressions were gilded by Atelier Jacomet. Tristan Corbiére's Les Amours Jaunes (The Yellow Loves, or Wry Loves, 1873), drew the attention of Paul Verlaine, who included him in his "Les poètes maudits". Pen-and-ink drawing, 11 3/4 x 10 3/4 inches, on verso of printed sheet (possibly a printer's proof), inscribed at head to his attorney "Pour Miguel Angelo St[star]," undated but circa 1970s. Dali made a number of drawings of Saint George and the dragon, with the present executed in his characteristic loose and fluid style. A fine drawing with impeccable provenance.

One page, 4to, on letterhead with Damrosch's 130 East 80th St address, New York, to Geoffrey Parsons, 24 March 1936. Folds, in fine condition. The famed conductor-composer invites Parsons, editor of the New York Herald Tribune, to a dinner at the Century Club to meet his son-in-law, Thomas Finletter, who had just been elected a member. Finletter was a partner in the Coudert Brothers law firm, and also served as Ambassador to Britain and to NATO.

From the Bart Auerbach Collection. 2 1/2 pages, 8vo, light gray paper, vignette of "Room in which the immortal Shakespeare was born, Stratford on Avon," integral second leaf neatly inlaid, accompanied by small engraved portrait of Daniel (inlaid and stained). Daniel responds to an autograph request, listing the books he has written and telling of his theatrical friends: "... [*] will feel himself in strange company among your collection of 'the most eminent literary and dramatic characters,' and wonder 'how the devil he got there!' except your too-favorable appreciation of his very moderate talents..." With a fine provenance: inscribed to George Bird Grinnell (1849-1938), future western historian, conservationist, and naturalist, and editor of Field and Stream, from his grandparents as a New Years gift when he was nineteen years old and a junior at Yale, 1 January 1869.

Original green cloth; pictorial dust jacket. First edition. The dedication copy, inscribed by the author beneath the dedication "To My Cousin Kenneth Birdsall Jaffray": "Who listened so patiently for many years to my barks and howls." Further inscribed on the verso of the frontispiece: "To Blossom and Kenneth Jaffray with love from 'Darling.' October, 1936." And with manuscript note on p. 191: Darling has crossed out the line of dialogue "Good heavens!" and wrote: "'My God!' [arrow] Here the Publishers went Puritan on me. E. B. D."
