Description:
Newark, NJ: Carteret Book Club, 1917. Ruzicka, Rudolph. Quarto. 52pp. One of 200 copies. Illustrated with five full-page color illustrations, printed by hand and each signed by Ruzicka. Also includes twelve black & white engravings produced by D.B. Updike at the Merrymount Press. Born in Bohemia in 1883, Ruzicka arrived in Chicago in the early 1890's and trained in art and engraving. He met Daniel Berkeley Updike in 1907, and later formed a thirty year professional relationship with him. His elegant engravings in this volume justified the publisher's hopes "...that he would find beauty and some grandeur where most people saw only industrial blight..." (Blumenthal 95). Bound in beige cloth-backed marbled boards with gilt titling to spine. Rubbing to edges, faint toning to spine, else fine in fairly worn slipcase.

Van Nuys: Hoffman, Richard J., 1988. 82pp. One of 250 copies. Text first published in 1921. The type ornaments chosen by Hoffman are arranged chronologically by designer (Garamond, Granjon, Rogers) and printed in color. Fine in ornamental cloth, with the Greek symbols for alpha and omega printed on the front and rear covers, respectively. A very attractive and well-designed miniature. (2 3/4 by 2 7/8; 70x74mm).

Description:
NY: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1939. First American edition. One of 2000 copies. Eliot's clever, jovial collection of poems on feline activity, ritual, and politics enjoyed enduring popularity thanks in large part to its adaptation for the stage by Andrew Lloyd Webber. As with the London first edition, the American first retains Eliot's illustration and lettering for the dust wrapper and title page. In publisher's gray cloth, showing fading to the spine and marginal spotting, but otherwise bright and about fine. Similarly bright price-clipped dust wrapper shows some sunning to spine and single half-inch tear to top of upper cover. (Gallup A34.b).

Description:
(N.p.), 1961. 24mo. (16)ff. One of twenty copies. Signed and inscribed by the artist—an unidentified "Gill"—at the colophon. Woodcut illustrations throughout provide crude yet evocative portraits of the main characters in T. S. Eliot's acclaimed (and much-adapted) Practical Cats. The woodcuts, though perhaps rudimentary in technical execution, cleverly reflect the personalities of the various cats: the Jellicles cavorting beside a crescent moon, and Mr. Mistoffelees curled under a queen of hearts playing card. Bound in card-backed paper, with paper label to upper cover. Some exterior staining, generic but inhibited edgewear, else a very good copy, and an oddball for most Eliot collectors.

Description:
London: W. Darton, 1813. 48mo. 32pp., + frontispiece and seven interleaved plates. The lyrical tributes are dedicated to members of the speaker's family (father, mother, brother, sister, uncle, and aunt) to support the prefatory statement that "the tie of Kindred is the cement of Nature." Each plate with header and caption at foot, and a note at the title page indicates the increased price to the buyer to subsidize their addition. Bound in yellow wrappers with engravings to both covers, these somewhat soiled and with trace creasing else a near fine copy. Bookplate of Marjorie Moon, whose penciled notes make mention of the 1812 watermarked paper present in this copy. (Moon, 98 [this copy]).
