Beneath the illustration, in Wolo's calligraphic hand, is the inscription: "To Lambie Taylor from Amanda and Sir Archibald and Wolo." The dust wrapper is a little rough along the bottom else is in near fine condition. I exhibits the first state price of $3.95 and the 4/67 code. Known in a single copy originally typewritten and bound in 1927 by the author, this is the first publication of Faulkner's tale of magic and enchantment.

In a contemporary binding of full crimson straight-grain morocco. The spine is in five compartments with raised bands, all intricately tooled in gilt. Gilt and blind rolls border the boards with a gilt vignette of the monastery on the center. Gilt inner dentelles. All edges gilt. Armorial bookplate of Williams of Blaina Gwent and also the ownership signature of Augustin Williams. Occasional foxing, else a very good copy in a fine binding with lovely illustrations. .

Not Published, 1880. First edition. Hardcover. Very good. Original cloth, gilt title. Cloth sunned to tan on spine, slight fading at top of front cover; waterspot. Born in Connecticut, Stephen Johnson Field was practicing law in New York when word of the Gold Rush arrived. He sailed to California in 1849, crossing Panama at Chagres. He soon became a leader of the California bar, going on to sit on both the State Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court. His book focuses on his first years in California, centering on his experience as practicing attorney and the first alcalde for the mining town of Marysville, 1850-57. In the second section, he relates anecdotes of his later career as justice, first of the California Supreme Court, then of the U.S. Supreme Court. Very scarce first edition, in original binding (later reissued with additional material). A very good copy. Cowan, p. 208; Howes F-117.

Full sprinkled calf, probably 19th century; Spine in six compartments, gilt. Red and green lettering labels, gilt. Marbled endpapers. Half title present. Hinges rubbed and cracked but firm; tip of spine worn; a few lower text margins near the end slightly soiled, not affecting the text; else a very nice copy. With the Gustavia A. Senff bookplate on the front pastedown. This is the Doheny copy, with her leather gilt bookplate on the front free endpaper. Two versions of this work were printed in 1755. This is the version edited by Fielding's half-brother John. The unedited version was printed first but suppressed in favor of the edited version, which, though printed later, was the first version issued. Rothschild 857; Cross III, 326-7; Warde 28. T131333.

The dustwrapper is not price-clipped and is lightly worn at the edges and folds else is in near fine condition. Errata slip laid-in and another tipped in. Inscribed by Firestone to Dolores Hope. Also laid in are four original 5 by 7 inch black and white photographs: Two show Bob Hope and the author, Harvey Firestone. Another sows Hope, Firestone, Joan Crawford and Mrs. Charles F. Willis, Jr. The fourth photograph shows Hope and President Lyndon Johnson. All photographs are in fine condition and seem to have been taken at a USO function. Accompanied by a letter from the Bob and Dolores Hope Charitable Foundation certifying that this copy came from the Hope library.

(Cedarville, New York): n.p., 1888. Hardcover. Very good. Oblong 12mo autograph book. Title page printed in gold; the remaining pages blank for autographs. Padded velvet boards in shades of orange; all edges gilt. 37 pages have been filled out, mostly with poetic sentiments and written in lovely penmanship. Most of the autographs are from upstate NY or NJ towns and from Leland, Ill. M. Huyck and D. C. Huyck mention that they are Minnie's aunt and uncle. THe aunt's pages is signed 'New Dover" and the uncle writes: "Oct 30th 1884, Sommer has passed, and Minnie has come to visit her Uncle far from her home. And with Fred her companion a very nice Boy. We wish them much pleasure and also much Joy. From her Uncle D. C, Huyck." Another entry is signed "With brotherly regards, P. A. Clapsaddle, Los Angeles Cal., . Cedarville, May 25th, 1886." Contents shaken, wear to edges, first page detached, else in very good condition. .

Individual leaves are pasted together accordion style. The Nuremberg Folk Festival began in 1826 and included a large parade. This 1853 Festival was no exception and was commemorated by the present lithograph, reputedly executed by Leopold Itzel. A glorious example of lithography: The Herold der Stadt Nürnberg and Trompeter are followed by the Ehrenfahnenträgen für Bauern; Noris, the Representation of Nuremberg, follows in a Roman chariot; then trade representatives: artists, plumbers, armour, carpenters, locksmith, a Flora and Pomona in chariots, triumphal cart of Gartner, a train of brewers, Buttner and hosts, and finally floats from rural communities Steinbuhl, Mogeldorf and Rednizhembach, the last as a canal boat. Recently bound to style in quarter calf, spine in six compartments and raised bands; leather lettering labels, gilt. The plates include scenes of Thebes, Acheron, Bacchus, Roman Houses, Pompeii, Telmessus, etc. Without the additional plates from other works sometimes found. The frontispiece was once closely trimmed, not affecting the image, is now mounted on paper of similar size and age as the text block.
