Firbank s first novel which deals with the vain Mrs Shamefoot, who decides to achieve immortality by featuring in a stained glass window and is single minded in her pursuit of her goal. A comedic array of characters congregate around her appear in this social melee of ladies, daughters and servants.

Tartary as a geographical area is no longer generally recognised, but covered a vast swath of the Central Asian highlands stretching from Turkey to India, encompassing regions of Turkmenistan, Mongolia, China and Russia. Spine slightly sunned, inner book lovely and clean and in very good condition.
