Publishers green and white decorative paper covered boards with black buckram spine, lettered in gilt. A fine copy with the original prospectus loosely inserted. 300 ordinary copies were issued, numbered and signed by Powys and bound as this copy at 10s and 50 special copies, numbered 1-50, bound in quarter vellum, signed by Powys, and containing extra prints of the 2 engravings were issued at 30s. The prospectus shows the projected price for the ordinary copies (15s) crossed through and the new, lower price typed in. Although dated 1930 the book wasn't published until march 1931. --Evan Gill. Illustrated with 16 full page mono plates, one from a drawing of the discovery by Dr Edward A. Wilson, the rest from photographs. Illustrated map endpapers in the front. A very good copy in an early leather binding by Morrell of London. Half dark blue calf. Spine with raised bands. The compartments lettered and decorated in gilt. Blue cloth on boards. Gilt stamped arms of Dover College to the front board. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. A little rubbing to the binding but overall a very good and attractive copy of this classic of Polar exploration.

Paradine Publications. London. 1975. LIMITED EDITION. 8vo. (8.4 x 5.6 inches). This is copy number 78 of only 100 copies for sale (there were another 10 copies for presentation) initialled by the printer, Ridley Burnett. A fine bright copy which is a beautifully produced facsimile of the famous Kelmscott Press edition of 1893. Finely hound bound in full white limp vellum, lettered in gilt. Green silk ties which were specially woven for this edition by H. Caldicott of London. With a short booklet about the 1893 edition, again limited, numbered and this initialled by Harold Smith and Ridley Burnett. Grey paper wraps with silk tie to the hinge. The two volumes are Housed in the publishers original grey paper covered slip case. A beautiful facsimile of a beautiful edition of Shakespeare's Poems in fine condition.

Rainbow press. London.,1971. LIMITED EDITION. Number 137 of 300 copies, signed by all three authors.Six poems from each writer. Fine copy in original full green calf with gilt lettering to spine and rear board. Front bopard lettered and illustrated in gilt. Marbled endpapers. Housed in original green calf slip-case whish has some light rubbing to edges. Overall a very good copy.:

Charles Tilt, 1840. 4to. (370mm x 275mm). . 12 full page engravings including illustrated title page, with tissue guards. All edges gilt.Publisher's full dark blue morocco, extra gilt, lavish decorations on spine and both boards, blind stamped rules. The gilt is still very bright, edges and corners very slightly bumped but this is remarkably good fresh copy.: Edited by Mary Russell Mitford who manages to include six of her own works amongst the 12 in the book.

Routledge, Warne, And Routledge. London. 1864. EARLY REPRINT (originally published in 1862). 4to. (10.4 x 8.2 inches). Illustrated with 30 full page plates. Some foxing to several pages but overall a very good example in a fine early leather binding of full dark green morocco. Spine with five raised bands, each with blind ruled line. Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Both boards have bevelled edges and are decorated and lettered with elaborate floral and ruled line designs and decorative lettering. Turn-ins with decorative and ruled gilt designs. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Some rubbing to the extremities but overall a very good and attractive copy of this delightful example of Victorian book production. The binding is unsigned but is certainly the work of a highly skilled binder.

Finely bound in recent full tan morocco by Bayntun of Bath. Raised bands with gilt dotted lines on the spine. The compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Boards with single gilt ruled border line. Board edges decorated in gilt. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Turn-ins with double ruled lines and gilt floral corner pieces, all in gilt. A fine copy of this classic work in an attractive leather binding. ------ This edition, with notes, indexes and illustrations including facsimiles of title pages and frontispieces from the original 18th century editions, was originally published by OUP in 1930. This reprint was issued in The Oxford Bookshelf series.

Illustrated with ten original coloured etchings by Lidia Farkas and Zoltan Poharnok, printed by hand-press and hand-coloured. One of 250 numbered copies, signed by both artists. This is number 54. Plain red endpapers. Attractive illustrated bookplate fo the front pastedown endpaper. Split to the bottom two inches of the front inner hinge, holding firm, but otherwise a very good clean copy in the original oatmeal coloured linen covered binding with red lettering to the spine and front board, which is also decorated with a multi colour cross stitch design.

A clean and tight copy in original publishers delux full tan vellum binding with gilt decoration and lettering on the spine. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. A lovely copy of this beautiful book showing the softer, fantasy side of Brangwyn's work.:

A clean and tight copy with lovely wide margins, in a fine early half white vellum binding by Bayntun of Bath. Spine with gilt floral decoration running lengthways and brown morocco label, lettered, ruled and decorated in gilt. Marbled paper on boards and endpapers. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. A lovely copy of this beautiful book showing the softer, fantasy side of Brangwyn's work, in a fine Arts and Crafts style binding.

Illustrated with hand coloured lettering and illustration to the title page and 24 hand coloured lino cut illustrations, each one above two verses of printed text. On the blank pages opposite somebody has written out in a neat early hand the English translation of the first 15 sets of verse. Possibly inscribed by the author, in English, on the blank leaf opposite the title page 'To Muriel with much love and best wishes! Christmas 1938. Franz and Elizabeth'. Original oatmeal coloured paper covered boards with title printed in outline and hand coloured, to the front panel. Spine of the outer wrapper is split, a little chipped and edges rubbed but overall a very good copy of this charming and rare book. No copies listed on Copac or Worldcat.

Lanston Monotype Corp. Ltd. London 1928. FIRST EDITION. 4to. ( 11.5 x 8.9 inches). Illustrated with mono printed examples of ornamental borders and panels on both sets of endpapers and from pages 5 to 67. These are followed by 19 pages of various coloured paper which have been printed with colour pattern. A beautiful book in fine condition in the publishers red cloth with gilt lettering and decorations to the spine and front board. In an early, possibly original, plain glassine wrapper which is a bit torn and creased but has done its job of protecting the book.
