Description:
(New York): The Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences in America, 1961. First Edition. Paper Wrappers. Good+. 8vo. Pp. 131. Bound in printed wraps. Slight snag to head of spine. Extensive marginalia to one article (described below), with the title highlighted in pen on the front cover. This copy belonged to medievalist Imre Boba, and contains his significant critical marginalia, especially indignant question marks, along the article titled "The Conversion of Hungary to Christianity" by Astrik Gabriel. Boba was a noted figure in the field of Eastern European history, gaining renown for his theory ("the Boba Thesis") that the 9th C. principality of Moravia was located in Serbia near the Roman provincial capital of Sirmium (present-day Sremska-Mitrovica), not the present-Czech Republic. Boba spent his career at the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington. .
