Extensive marginalia to one article (described below), with the title highlighted in pen on the front cover. This copy belonged to medievalist Imre Boba, and contains his significant critical marginalia, especially indignant question marks, along the article titled "The Conversion of Hungary to Christianity" by Astrik Gabriel. Boba was a noted figure in the field of Eastern European history, gaining renown for his theory ("the Boba Thesis") that the 9th C. principality of Moravia was located in Serbia near the Roman provincial capital of Sirmium (present-day Sremska-Mitrovica), not the present-Czech Republic. Boba spent his career at the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington. .

Two mellowed horizontal folds, and two closed tears on right margin, one measuring 1" and the other measuring 0.5", else Near Fine. A letter of approximately 900-words from Garfielde to Hon. J. W. Nesmith (then-US Senator from Oregon) attempting to influence Nesmith toward securing an appointment for General Winlock Miller as Superintendent of Indian Affairs for Washington Territory. A notable Washington Territory imprint, the printing was transcribed to print from a "true copy, in the possession of a Republican in Olympia, W. T." and was published November 6, 1869 by the Republican party in an attempt to exploit the political differences of Garfielde and Arthur Denny, and their parties.
