Description:
London, 1924. First Edition. Single sheet measuring 11 x 6 ½ inches with text to both sides. Near fine condition. Emma Goldman lived in the United Kingdom for two years beginning in September of 1924, a period in which she tried to revive her career as a lecturer and writer. Upon arriving, a group including Rebecca West, Bertrand Russell and Edward Carpenter hosted a large reception dinner at Anderton's Hotel and Restaurant, intending to welcome Goldman into English society. Attendance was estimated at 250 people. Offered here is a program from the dinner, with the menu on the recto and the program on the verso, with a program featuring a toast by Goldman, replies by Russel and William Owen, a toast by Peggy Shannon, replies by Rebecca West and Adame Malburg, another reply by Goldman, and then a version of "The International" by all attendees. Description:
Guatemala City, 1872. Broadside measuring 17 ¼ x 13 ½ inches. Vertical fold to center, some loss and foxing to left upper portion, very good plus overall. An unrecorded broadside announcing the first celebration of the DÃa del Ejército de Guatemala, a holiday celebrating the defeat of the dictator Vicente Perna. This broadside also mentions the success of the campaign in Honduras as a reason for the celebration. The text gives an extensive description of the day's festivities, with celebrations including the military band and a puppet theater for children. The rules for the evening include no selling of alcoholic beverages and no one entering the plaza on horseback. The holiday still exists today, and became a center of controversy following the Guatemalan Civil War.

Description:
San Francisco, 1864. Broadside measuring 12 x 8.5. Some wear and archival tape repair to margin, fine contrast, excellent condition overall. Very Good. An interesting broadside advertising the Lighte and Bradbuiry piano as well as Martin Guitars, printed for the Salvator Rosa music store at 615 Montgomery Street in San Francisco. Lighte and Bradbury was in its third iteration in the period from 1858-1864 when this broadside was printed, having been started by the German immigrant Ferdinand C. Leuchte in 1847, who did business with a range of partners after anglicizing his name to Lighte. Among the testimonials listed on the broadside is praise from Lowell Mason, the composer and music director. Salvator Rosa's store was around from at least 1852, when a fire in the city destroyed the building on Clay St., making this location at 615 Montgomery Street at least the second for the firm. The firm published sheet music including "Fireman's March" and "Garibaldi's Hymn." Martin Guitars had been based in…
