A comprehensive description of the "program of education in human relations, including sex relations, in the public schools of San Diego, California" (foreword). Describes the mission of the program, which is to ground sex education into health education for teens, and outlines the basic curriculum of the program. Published primarily for other educators, it includes further sex education resources in the back. Single vol. (9" by 6"), pp. 74, stapled in original printed yellow wrappers. It includes Lessons on Social Hygiene for Sixth Grade Boys and Girls.

Stamped cloth cover with applied color illustrated pictorial, color illustrations throughout by Lang Campbell, preprinted ex-libris with matching illustrated advertising end papers at back of book. Three short stories-Uncle Wiggly, Nurse Jane, and Uncle Butter spend the day at the beach; Uncle Wiggily visits the Hollow Stump School while bad Gator, Bob Cat, and Fox plan to catch him; Uncle Wiggily and Uncle Butter go golfing and escape the attempts of Bob Cat, Fox, and Wolf to catch them. 7 3/4" x 6 3/4" Wear and staining on cover, text block beginning to detach, inscribed, tears on some page edges.

New York: William Edwin Rudge, 1928. Approx. 162, Illustrated with several color plates, of which some are tipped in, along with dozens of black & white illustrations. These graphic images are reproductions of the advertising work done in the 1920s. At the beginning of the book there are three separate indexes advertisers, designers, printers and agents. Book was also published in London by The Studio LTD Blue covers, with a stamped design and gilded letters. 11 3/4" x 8 1/2" Covers have shelve wear due to rubbing. There are also several stains on the front cover. Binding is cracked but intact. Stamped with "From the Library of Wilton B. Decker" on inside cover. The interior pages are slightly toned and soiled due to age. A few pages have small spot stains on them. However this does not affect the images themselves.

Products span skin care, makeup, and hair care, and include everything from face bleach to lighten skin, to eye brow pencils and toothpaste. Prices included for each item. The catalogue is marketed to adult women in search of the perfect Gibson Girl-esque look. Offers beauty school courses for women, as well as careers as saleswomen for the company and courses in how to start a small business (pp. 37-8). Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Scott, Printer, 12 Hudson's Alley, 1851. Very good. Foxed with some edge wear, short tears, minor water staining.. Printed handbill advertising a "Novel and Curious Invention for Cutting Ladies' Dresses" by Mrs. R. Githens, who hopes "every lady will have the curiosity to call and see how easy they can be taught to measure and cut their own dresses--in learning any old style it takes months and years; all the time required to learn this new method is from one to four hours" (recto). We have located advertisements for Mrs. Githens' dressmaking and embroidering services from as early as 1849 (29 Nov., Public Ledger), but this appears to be her first advertisement for her "DIY" lessons showing women how to cut their own dress patterns. "Mrs. R. Githens" is most likely the maiden name for Eliza R. Bell, formerly Githens (c.1824-1863), wife of Josiah Bell (c.1820-?). Measures 6" by 6", verso blank. Set in 1685 France, the story tells of a young boy Philip and the conflict between King Louis XIV and the Huguenots. 8 1/4" x 6 1/2" 5th edition.

Philadelphia, Pa: Lanston Monotype Machine Company. booklet with examples of Goudy text and lombardic capitals, the back page has monotype flowers and ornaments suggested for use with Goudy text and lombardic capitals. 12" x 9" edges are worn with a few tears, some tape repair.

Boston: Impressions Workshop, Inc, 1965. Prospectus booklet, stamped soft cover with cut out to title page, text with border and stamped image at end of chapter, fold in back cover houses sample lithographs and contact sheet as well as an unused order form. The booklet explains the contents and purpose of "Prospectus for Homage to Ingres: Ten Lithographs with Selected Quatations from the Writings of Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres." Three color sample lithographs by Sante Graziani are included with a black and white contact sheet with six litho samples. The last paper included is a preprinted unused order form envelope. 7 1/4" x 8" some fading on cover, creases.

Chicago, Illinois: Budlong Press Company, 1964. Very good to near-fine. Some minor toning, wear to extremities.. A printed sex education guide for married couples, written from the point of view of a doctor, broken into three parts: "Some Facts of Life" (sex anatomy, modern attitudes towards sex); "The Sexual Act" (desire, coital positions, hygiene); and "Conception and Pregnancy" (how conception occurs, and which birth control methods are available). The booklet a loosely inserted Coital Posture Diagrams Supplement, folded in quarto for what we assume is modesty, and labeled "To be dispensed at discretion of Doctor". Measures 5.5" by 4.25" folded. The booklet itself measures 6.75" by 5.5", pp. [6], 89, [1], illus., stapled in original printed teal wrappers. Included is a chapter titled "Sex Anomalies and Abnormalities" which covers "homosexuality; hermaphroditism; nymphomania; prostitution; and priapism" (note the stigmatizing chapter title).

Boston: Gould, Kendall & Lincoln, 1838. Fine.. Second edition of a book of multiplication tables by Charles W. Greene, educator and director of Greene's Academy in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. Greene conceived of the project after discovering that having his pupils commit times tables to memory was an "irksome labor" (advertisement), and he sought an easier way to commit the arithmetic to memory. Square 12mo (5.5" by 4.75"), pp. 29, [1], with typographical tables. Sewn in contemporary (original?) plain paper wrappers, spine chipped. Checklist of American imprints, 19103. OCLC shows 3 copies of this edition only (Feb. 2022). This edition not in AAS catalog.

1880. Intact tear on autograph page.. A grouping of materials related to Whittier. The first is a cabinet card with Whittier's signature at base. The second is a 4 3/4" x 7 1/2" page from an autograph album with what seems to be an original verse penned and signed by John G. Whittier, Amesbury 1878. The reverse has an drawing by Alice C. Boynton, Boston MA. The third is a 4" x 4 1/2" piece of shingle with a pen and ink somewhat naive drawing of "The Captain's Well". It is captioned "And I knew in that vision beyong the sea, The very place where my well must be". Penned on the reverse "Picture of the 'Captian's Well' at Amesbury on a shingle from John G. Whittier's House in Amesbury". This is being sold only as an illustration, there has been no attempt to confirm that the wood shingle is from Whittier's home. The final item is a snippet from a letter penned by Whittier.

This is followed an editorial composed by the three editors for the year various prizes and winners across numerous literary and scientific categories. A beautiful Snow White is forced to flee her stepmother's anger and finds herself caring for dwarves deep in the forest. 12" x 9 1/2" no dust jacket.

The booklet specially gives instructions intended for drum majors, whether they are in a marching band or drill corps. The manual provides instructions on a variety of different moves one can perform with a baton and has step by step diagrams illustrating them. The specific moves described within the booklet are: 'fake' twirl, two finger twirl, four and five finger twirl, two hand twirl, the reverse, around the neck, forward thrust, around the back, right and left side cartwheels, the halt, high throw, two finger spin and high throw, and the hand front spin. Followed by some general advice, such as "when twirling in a spotlight, do not throw up in the air unless you can catch baton without looking up", as well as instructions on twirling contests.
