Jacket good with moisture staining to underside, loss at corners and heel of spine with some chipping along the top edge. Interesting association copy of this uncommon work of fiction from Frank Ely Gaebelein (1899-1983), American evangelical author and first headmaster of the Stony Brook School in New York. Gaebelein was also an accomplished mountaineer, his papers in the American Heritage Center at the University of Wyoming, mention several climbs with the Alpine Club of Canada in Switzerland, France, Mexico, and the Wind River Range of Wyoming. A very good copy in good example of the scarce jacket. Scarce thriller from the American author from Batavia, NY, Audrey Gaines [Schultz] (1899-1968).  Gaines only published 5 thrillers, generally "Who done its" with eerie/spooky components in Southern settings, before retiring from writing.  All of her books sold quite well and she became popular in her time, from her first book in 1939 through her last in 1952.  A scarce book.   Hubin pg 160.

Good condition with wear and a chip to spine, bumping and soiling to boards. Internally clean and complete with printed Kleberg family tree laid in. A collection of remembrances of Marcellus E. Kleberg (1849-1913), compiled under the direction of friends and family and also containing extracts from some of his notable speeches and addresses. Kleberg was a lawyer and charter member of the TX state bar association. He also served in the House of the Thirteenth Texas Legislature. Worldcat locates 8 holdings, all in Texas institutions. An uncommon piece of Galveston history.
