Title page, second leaf with coat of arms, list of musical numbers in elaborate black and gold ink with watercolor illumination. Music inscribed completely by hand on Carl Fischer staff paper, with libretto and lyrics typed in black ribbon, ink while titles, stage directions, and section heads are typed in red ribbon ink. The whole bound in flexible leather. Leather worn from corners and edges, with upper and lower portions of spine perished. All edges gilt. Elaborate manuscript score for musical theater, with libretto and lyrics attributed to Kataleen Laurette Hagan, and the musical score to José B. Rios. Despite the highly sophisticated composition of the operetta (if that is what it is--there are no speaking roles), and the clever lyrics, we find no reference either to any production of Romance at the Wheel or to its composer and librettist. Bound in half red morocco over marbled boards, with marbled endleaves and interior leather hinges by Tuttle, Morehouse and Taylor. Bookplate and super ex-libris of Rowland Gibson Hazard (probably R. G. Hazard II, 1855-1918). About fine. Reference: Wood, p. 374. Several of the 139 species ennumerated here are now extinct.

Boards quite dark; scattered foxing as in all surviving examples, heavy toward final leaves. Bookplate of Alfred Heacock Whittaker. Earlier ownership inscription of Michael Schoonmaker. Sound and entire. Reference: American Imprints (Shaw) 1737 Lay medical advice from the early nineteenth century: eat more slowly, in moderation, chew your food, and get exercise by riding your horse. The author even holds a patent for a mechanical exercise machine!

The author prepared this text while editor of the first Nome newspaper. A trade edition was published with a slightly different subtitle. The "Souvenir Edition" was a limited run (about 800 copies) sold by subscription.

London: The Nonesuch Press , [1928]. # 816 of an edition limited to 1,450 copies on Ditch hand-made paper.. Very Good. Octavo (21 cm); xvi, 202 pages, and one engraved plate. Original types of Fleischman and Christophel van Dijck. In full niger morocco, with gilt double-ruled border on covers, gilt spine with raised bands, top edge gilt. Lightly scuffed on upper board. Upper joint just starting. Otherwise bright and fresh, with many leaves unopened. Reference: Ransom p.168 #51. Issued on the occasion of the tercentenary celebration of the first publication of the text of De motu cordis.

Odessa: Mathesis, 1912. First edition in Russian. Good. 23cm; [10], 206, [10], [8] pages, and two folding color maps. Bound in later red patterned cloth over boards. Binding split 1cm at upper top joint. Extremely rare first Russian translation of the geography professor's popular "Polarforschung," first published in Germany in 1902. The Russian edition includes extra material on Russian voyages to American Arctic. A census of union catalogues turns up only the 1923 Berlin reprint of the Russian text, and few of those. The 1912 Odessa imprint, offered here, is not represented. Odessa is a very rare imprint for books on the Arctic, and we believe this is the only book-length work on the subject printed there. The folding maps show the northern and southern polar regions.

Woodcut initials and ornaments. Bound in contemporary vellum, a bit soiled but sound and entire. Ink smear on title page, leaves somewhat toned. Anthology of humanist theories of the orthography and pronunciation of Greek. Illustrated with numismatic and epigraphic plates. A continuation, Sylloge altera scriptorum, was published in 1740.
