In all, this is a lovely example of this modern classic of Hosseini's first novel. It tells the unforgettable tale of the friendship shared by two boys growing up in different social classes in Kabul in the 1970s, and follows the course of their lives as the Soviet Union invades, the Afghani monarchy falls, and the Taliban moves in. This is an unforgettable story that will stay with you. It is a moving, powerful debut novel from Hosseini.
