Of this edition, this is stated as the thirteenth printing, October 1920.The uncredited dust jacket illustration is an engaging tableau of a haunted woman at the gaming table, preoccupied as she clutches pearls and reaches for her stacks of chips. Both book and jacket, the latter scarce in any condition, are in notably well preserved condition. Dust jacket is now protected in a removable, clear archival sleeve. .

Bound in embossed black cloth-covered hinged boards, with metal screw posts, gilt title and insignia stamped on front board. Leaves are tabbed numerically to correspond to index. Two tabs are lacking and two are loose. A couple index leaves have edgewear, one with loss not affecting text. Faint mustiness, with light scuffs to covers. Pages 1 - 41 are 2-page verso-recto spreads, 42 - 61 are recto only. Maps within Seattle city limits have reduced detail with references to Kroll's Atlas of Seattle. Corners bumped, edges scuffed. Several leaves torn some with tape repairs, corner creases, edge wear, stains, cigarette burns, title company pencil and ink annotations. As no publication date is printed on the maps, we have concluded 1970 thus: Kroll moved from the printed location on Second Avenue to new quarters on Sixth in 1975, 1960s highway completions are present, and annotations appear to be dated from 1970. Highly informative with practical descriptions and fine illustrations, informal in style including facsimile hand-written annotations, this catalog was highly prized by machinists, trade instructors and hobbyists. Includes testimonial letters. Scarce.

Date written on front free endpaper (Aug. 15, 1931). Slight nick on dust jacket spine, along with a closed two-inch tear along front panel-spine fold (please see photo). A superb copy with both book and dust jacket quite bright. Subsequently reprinted, this being the first edition of the novel concerning a young woman whose piano prowess beguiles college boys. Dust jacket now enclosed in a removable, clear archival sleeve.

See HUBIN, p. 221, who cites this as being first published by Lippincott, and that "William Irish" was one of two pen-names used by Cornell Woolrich; the other was "George Hopley."
