Paris: P.V. Stock, 1898. First edition. Hardcover. Orig. printed pictorial stiff wrappers. Fine in fine cloth and marbled board clamshell box.. 111 pages. 25.4 x 18 cm. Limited edition, copy 15 of 50, large paper edition on Japan vellum, signed by Ibels. Forty black and white plates. A contemporary of Bonnard and Edward Vuillard, he was a member of Les Nabis from its founding in 1889, and took part in their exhibition where earned the nickname "le Nabis journaliste." Inspiration derived from street life, cafes, the circus and boxing, as did Toulouse-Lautrec with whom he collaborated in avant-garde theater. His graphic style influenced by Daumier, Gauguin and the Pont-Aven School. Partly unopened, front and back covers are color lithographs.
