Description:
Newton Abbot: David & Charles, 1976 Southern steam from the footplate.
The Bricklayers' Arms locomotive depot remained a steam shed until the 1960s, and this book is a largely first hand description of foot-plate work over a period of thirty years, documenting the changes in working methods and conditions as well as in the locomotives themselves. With photographic illustrations, mostly from private collections and some published here for the first time. Anyone who has memories of the line between London and Ramsgate, Bricklayers Arms Shed and the locos that worked the line such as the Schools 4-4-0s and the Bulleid Pacifics.

Description:
London: HMSO, 1981. Book. Very Good+. Pictorial Cover. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Royal carriages at the National Railway Museum. From almost the earliest days of the fully mechanised railway, members of the British Royal Family have been inveterate train travellers - none more so than Queen Victoria. Between Queen Adelaide's saloon and the 'modern' saloons of 1941 stand some ten other preserved vehicles of royal status or with royal associations, spanning a century of… Read More
