Most occupy a single page, some are 4 to a page, text below images or inset in a panel beside them. Head and tail of spine and corners slightly worn, a few slight chips to board edges, a slight crease across lower corners of covers, 35 mm (1½") from tip, slight scrape to margin of 1 illustration on upper cover. Text in French. 4to, approximately 250 x 195 mm, 10 x 8 inches, pages: viii, 1-351, half-title present, bound in half calf over marbled boards. Hinges rubbed and cracked but holding on the cords, slight chipping to head and tail of spine, boards scuffed with some loss of marbled paper, corners worn with board showing at tips, shelf wear edges of boards, first and last endpapers lightly stained plus 2 neat ink names, minor pale small stain to inner margins from page 249 through to end not affecting text, occasional small spot otherwise a good copy. FIRST UK EDITION 1932, large 8vo, 250 x 165 mm, 9¾ x 6¼ inches, yellow cloth, red lettered upper cover and spine, pages: vii, 214. 3 beautiful colour plates, 10 exquisite black and white plates and 8 text illustrations. Tail of spine very slightly worn with 2 minute nicks to cloth, tiniest bump to corners, lower cover slightly unevenly faded, 1 or 2 very minor marks to cloth, erased pencil inscription on front endpaper, showing slightly, edges faintly foxed, occasional pale fox spot to margins. Very good plus copy (lacking dustwrapper). Author and artist of this delightful popular doll book were American. It first appeared in the US in 1929 with the subtitle: My First Five Hundred Years.
