Original binding of simple thread joining the two signatures without covers. Dissertation on the medical application for bitumen or asphalt of Como (Novum Comun), Italy. Later published in Leyden in 1761 under the title Dissertatio Medica Sistens Examen Bituminis Neocomensis. Light soil and staining else a very good copy.

Fahlunensis: n.p., 1694. Wraps. Good. 12mo. 128pp. Contemporary blue paper wraps. Textblock and wraps soiled and stained with some neat repairs. This is the morning (first) dissertation, listing Olaus Troilus Zachrisson in the description and setting the date for 12 December, 1694 "ante meridiem". There was a second printing for the afternoon session listing Daniel Lind Danielsson on the title and with the time specified as post meridiem. The afternoon version is scarce enough with OCLC locating only 5 copies; the morning version is downright rare with the OCLC listing (under the title Dissertatio De Lingvuae...) locating no copies worldwide. Lagerloof went on to become a noted language authority in the orthography of Swedish. In Latin.

Custom binding in full woven blue and silver silk floral design, titles on Suminagashi marbled paper printed in deep blue, Suminagashi marbled endpapers in shades of blue, tan and white. Erasure in the upper margin of page one, not affecting text (ownership name?), a couple of pages with repairs to closed marginal tears, none affecting text or illustrations, else a near fine copy with the original wrappers bound in at the rear. .

Ford and with Ford's initials at the lower right of the upper board. Decorated endpapers by Ford. All edges gilt. Illustrated with eight full page color plates as well as numerous black and white full page plates. Wear to the edges and hinges, occasional darkening from age, but a very good copy. Inscription op a preliminary blank: "Thomas W. Othmer, From the Rev. James J. Cameron, Skagway, Alaska, Nov. 7, 1902." Five of the color plates and seventeen of the black and white plates refer to the story of King Arthur. Of the 19 tales contained, 14 of them refer to the Arthurian tale. The remainder include Robin Hood, Grettir the Strong, WIlliam Short Nose and Wayland the Smith. .

Trace of soil to the wrapper but essentially a fine copy. With the engraved bookplate of Charles B, Foote, and a Blackwells bookseller ticket. One of 53 numbered copies from an edition of 63 on Japanese paper, and signed by David Nutt. This is copy No. 9. Housed in a green leather solander case, gilt spine titles. The leather is soiled, spine faded to brown, but still presents good appearance. Tne preliminary page states that the poem was translated in June, 1887, and printed in November, 1887. .

Boards lightly soiled else a near fine copy. Several leaves have three dots impressed just at the upper edge of the text which we believe are trim guides for the binder. This is the first Kelmscott edition printed in three colors. Armorial bookplate on the front pastedown of C. F. J. Beausure, the noted British watercolor collector. The text is taken from a 13th century Psalter (The Nottingham Psalter), owned by Morris and edited by Sydney Cockerell. Reportedly only 1500 copies of the Scribner edition were issued in 1880; but by 1889 it had gone through 16 printings with 12,900 copies. n,p: n,p, 1490. Leaf. Very good. Large page printed on laid paper in a Roman face. Two columns. One large manuscript initial and many red lines in text. Manuscript Running Title. The commentary begines with the end of CHapter 12 on the obverse, and continued with the beginning of CHapter 13 for the remainder of the page and the entire reverse. There is a closed marginal tear, no loss. The chain lines are fine and there is no watermark detected. A very good copy. .

It is a work of political propaganda focused on undermining the Catholic League and Spanish pretensions, as well as uniting France under a Catholic king (Henri IV). Some consider it one of the greatest political satires of world literature. First published in 1593. In French.
