The brochure notes the school will open August 18, 1884 at 4 Park Square in Boston, Mass. The rear cover notes tuition fees for small classes and private lessons. French, German, Latin, Greek, Italian and Spanish are available. The explanation given for the founding of the school is to encourage Americans to learn these languages, particularly given its expansion and upcoming opportunities overseas such as the 1889 Universal Exposition in Paris. Though we do find other schools by this name, we didn't find much in a quick internet search about this particular concern, directed by G. Alba-Raymond and T. N. Genoud.

Lafontaine was apparently a Swiss hypnotist. Rough google translation: "The Art Of Magnetizing Or Vital Magnetism Considered From The Point Of View Theoretical, Practical And Therapeutic" The publisher Alcan published a number of works in hypnotism, magnetism, and the occult sciences (a list is found on the rear cover of some titles).

It does a good job of identifying the state of the art at the time, and is surprisingly hard to find. Worldcat shows several copies only. Title, roughly translated as: "True method of using cold water in fevers, and in other internal as well as external evils: divided into two books: where with strong, clear reasons derived from the good mechanics and experimental mores, the great efficacy of such is demonstrated. remedy ...".
