FIRST EDITION WITH PROVENANCE. Accounts written in jouranistic style of notable climbs on ten of the world's most famous mountains. Am accomplished mountaineer himself, Irving was a member of the Alpine Club since 1902 and was an early advocate of climbing without a mountain guide, which in those days was thought to be reckless. By 1955 he had authored over a dozen well received mountaineering books.

A LOVELY COPY, FAR MORE FRESH AND CLEAN THEN IS TYPICALLY FOUND. The collection contains the letters, "Letters from the Raven," "Letters to a Lady,"and "Letters of Ozias Midwinter." RARE FIRST EDITION, AND AN EXCEPTIONAL COPY of this collection of Hearn's essay on American literature primarily extracted from the Times-Democrat and from The Item. Not surprisingly the work is especially strong in relation to Southern American literature, and specifically New Orleans.
