Complete run of MacDonald's color-coded crime novels featuring beach bum, ladies man, salvage expert, and all-around tough guy Travis McGee. In the twenty-one novels written over as many years, McGee fights crime and corruption throughout the seedy underbelly of Florida, with trips to Mexico and Caribbean. Not an impossible set to assemble, but the early books are deceptively difficult to find in collector's condition and in the correct dustjackets. The first in the Lippincott series, Darker Than Amber, is the toughest to find, almost always plagued by condition issues, and often found masquerading in a price-clipped second printing dustjacket; this copy is the best of the few we've had, virtually flawless. Attractive collaborative work between Malanga and Warhol, stemming from their Death and Disaster series, including a substantial collection of poems both inspired by and dedicated to various Factory figures, and reproducing six of Warhol's Death paintings, along with a portrait of the two men at a 1966 Allen Ginsberg reading. The volume was issued simultaneously in cloth (400 copies, unsigned) and wrappers (600 copies), with a "deluxe issue" of 75 hardcover copies numbered and signed by Malanga. Mann's re-shaping of the Faust legend, set in the first half of the 20th century, and centered around a young composer who strikes a Faustian bargain in order to achieve true creative genius.

Light wear to the extremities, notably the spine panel and to the edges of the rear wrapper. Signatures are uncut, small Montevideo bookseller's label to front endpage, with some foxing to the endpages and text edges. The scarce French edition of Mann's anti-fascist novel, and the only copy we've seen with the promotional band.

Late novel by Marsh (1857-1915), English author of the best-selling novel The Beetle (1897), whose prodigious output of supernatural and crime fiction spanned the late 19th century until his death. First published by T. Fisher Unwin in 1914, in The Woman in the Car, Marsh "scatters blood generously - having doubtless argued that three corpses are just as easily drawn from the ink-bottle as one corpse. He makes no extra charge for quantity. Quality is provided, too - for one corpse is shot, one is stabbed, and one is torn by a wild animal - unfairly perplexing the police doctor. The last and most complicated corpse is driven furiously through the British night in a motor-car and deposited at the door of a London club. N.p.: S.i., 1970. Untitled and (presumed) unpublished poem written in Martinelli's hand. Sheri Martinelli, known to many as the "Queen of the Beats" was a major figure in literature and the arts, friend to a host of major Beat Generation figures, early publisher and long-time correspondant of Charles Bukowski, and for a time, the muse (and reportedly mistress) of Ezra Pound. She edited and published a mimeographed poetry journal, The Anagogic & Paideumic Review, between 1959-1970, though this poem has not appeared an any issue we have handled. The poem, either a fragment of a larger work or something she'd begun and then abandoned, reads: "I am the crucified doorway into time / & memorys (sic) of all women flow through me like a river of personalities / Fatal woman / Desire burning like lava fire / with only men to enflame in swirling liquid."
