Corners lightly bumped, very slight spine slant. No dust jacket. First published in England in 1898 under the title The Wooings of Jezebel Pettyfer.

Quarto, pp. xv, 491, complete with 3 maps (one folding), 4 folding charts, and 14 engraved plates, of which 8 are lovely hand-colored aquatints. Additional engravings in the text. Rebound in quarter-leather and brown cloth. Approximately 10 text pages with significant foxing, otherwise very clean. A chemist and geologist by training, Mackenzie 1780-1848) traveled to Iceland with the physicians Henry Holland (1788-1873) and Richard Bright (1789-1858), both of whom made constributions to this book. First published in 1811, it describes the natural history of the island and the history, literature, and diseases of its people. This edition has some revisions to the geological observations and interpretation as well as some new material in the Appendix. Abbey Travel 160 (first edition).

A history of the end of the slave trade in England with accounts from the perspectives of abolitionists and slavers alike,compiled from letters, records, and other documentation. Spine slant, some foxing, edgewear to boards, previous owner's bookplate. Good reading copy.

London: Robert Hale Ltd, 1954. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. 155 pp. Spine and edges lightly sunned. Binding is tight and square, text is unmarked. Dust jacket is price-clipped and has several sizeable chips missing from the top edge. Recounts the ordeal and rescue of members of the British North Greenland Expedition and the crew of the airplane that was sent to resupply them, but crashed on the way in.

In addition to the works of Mackey, it lists various Masonic manuals and diplomas and books of forms (petitions for membership, receipts, minute books, etc).

General wear to boards including tears at spine; contents clean. The letter pertains to Macinlay's cost for ordering additional copies of his book, some of he will be giving away to various people who helped in the preparation of the manuscript, a library, etc. It appears he has been offered copies at a price higher than that charged to the book trade, and he protests that this is unfair.

Mild rubbing to lower edge of boards, else a fine copy, inscribed on the front free endpaper "For Theodore Green with respect, Archibald MacLeish." Both volumes internally fine, but with some light foxing and/or toning to the covers and top edges. First volume has the bookplate and signature of Huntington Williams, MD of Baltimore on the front endpapers; second volume has the original prospectus laid in. Very good. Undated (c. 1860) engraved, hand-colored view of the Merchants' Exchange Building (now 55 Wall Street) in New York City. Image (size 4 1/8" x 8 1/8" or 10.5 x 20.5 cm) appears at the top of a folded lettersheet. LIght browning at edges, some shallow creases. Very good.

Light rubbing to extremities, gift inscription on front blank; otherwise unmarked and sound. Majors was one of the founders of the Pony Express. Late in life, when he was impoverished, Cody gave him a part in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. The "Major" Burke to whom this book is inscribed was a publicist and press agent who managed the Wild West Show. Graff 2664; Rader 2334; Smith 6488; Howes M-232.

Two volumes, pp xxx, 439; xxii, 531,with a total of 36 beautiful color plates by Flint. Bound in publisher's green cloth with gilt spine lettering, blind-stamped decoration on upper boards. Slight scattered foxing, light rubbing to corners, a linked pair of ownership inscriptions, dated 1927 amd 1930, on the front free endpaper of Volume I. The scarce original dust jackets are present, but in good condition only. Both have toning and chipping to the spines, and the mounted illustration on the front panel of Volume II is partially torn away. In their book Illustrating Camelot (2008), Barbara and Alan Lupack praise Flint's ability to capture "the essential beauty of Malory's romance," and write that "as a series, the watercolors constituted one of the most comprehensive, and still largely unsurpassed, renderings of the legends by a single artist.
