The Best man published October 1907 by Bobbs- Merril Co. is considered by a many cultural anthropologists as a window into the early 20th century America. Macgrath was a best selling short story author and wrote for among other magazines,The Saturday Evening Post, Red Book and ladies Home journal. Book is bound in green textured cloth with a nice blind stamp, presumably of the bride on the front cover. Lettering is gilt. Book is very clean and unmarked except for a former owners name penciled on the front paste down. There are a number of period ( early 20th century) illustrations by Will Grefe. This copy is quite a nice collectible.
