This is a pristine copy of Howard's End and Other Stories by the great British author E.M. Forster (1879-1970). Howard's End was made into a 1992 film starring Emma Thompson, Anthony Hopkins, Vanessa Redgrave and Helena Bonham-Carter; there are 6 less-known stories included (see contents photo).
This book has never been read, but there is a bookplate on the inside front cover, which you can steam off or cover with your own label.
It is in pristine condition.

This is the collected novels of the great British author E.M. Forster (1879-1970). All of them were made into films.
They are Where Angels Fear to Tread (1905), The Longest Journey (1907), A Room With a View (1908), Howard's End (1910) and A Passage to India (1924).
This book was a school award and has been inscribed on the front endpaper--you can remove that page if you wish.
The spine has been cracked in the middle--see photo. And it's loose, as you would expect with a book of this size.
Very minor wear to the dust jacket.
Other than that, this book does not appear to have been read.
It is pristine.

In the 17th and 18th centuries, Scotland produced many fine classical houses, with the style gaining a foothold there long before it did in England. This is the first work written on Scottish country houses and the first integrated history of country house architecture. It looks into the lives and works of Sir William Bruce, James Smith and James Playfair. Approximately 100 houses are featured and it gives a fascinating insight into furnishings and decoration.This book has not been read and is in pristine condition. Its only flaw is a small crease to the dust jacket.

This is an unread copy of Ready Aye Ready, An Illustrated History of the Royal Canadian Navy, which was written in 1989 by Lt-Cdr Jack MacBeth. It was a best-seller; this copy is from its 6th printing, in 1993.
It is a lovely book, heavily illustrated with photographs, paintings and propaganda art. It begins with the RCN's creation in 1914, follows it through the Battle of the Atlantic and the Invasion of Europe and goes up to the 80s.
176 pages but heavy. Unclipped dust jacket.
It has not been read, or even opened. It creaks when you open it.
There's a small scuff to the dust jacket, just at the edge, and some of that scuff continues to the cover of the book itself.
That is its only flaw. It is otherwise pristine.

This is a first edition of Scotland Farewell: The People of the Hector, written in 1980 by the Canadian journalist Donald MacKay (1925-2011). The book was a best-seller and was re-issued in 2006.
It is the story of the Highland Scots who sailed to Pictou, Nova Scotia, in 1773 aboard the brig Hector. These intrepid emigrants came for many reasons: the famine of the previous spring, pressures of population growth, intolerable rent increases, trouble with the law, the hunger of landless men to own land of their own. Upon arrival at Pictou, after an appalling storm-tossed crossing, they found they had been deceived. The promised prime farming land turned out to be virgin forest. This is a first US edition of An Encyclopedia of Small Antiques, published in 1975.It was compiled specifically for collectors, and is useful for designers, decorators and art historians. 425 entries, mainly from the last three centuries. 320 pages, 32 colour plates, 350 b/w illustrations.
There's a little bit of wear to the dust jacket the paper is starting to darken. Otherwise perfect.

This is a first edition (1966) of The Fierce Pawns, the account of the First Afghan War by the Anglo-Irish expert on Afghanistan Sir Patrick Macrory (1911-1993). It recounts the conquest, folly and intrigue of the campaign, leading to the revenge of the Afghans during the British retreat from Kabul in 1842.
The jacket, which is unclipped, has some shelfwear--you can see it in the photos.
The book itself is near-mint. There's a white mark on the spine and the pages have yellowed a little.
