Conway, Massachusetts: Unpublished, 1950. Postcard, with "Uphill Farm Conway, Massachusetts printed in red at top, dated 6/25 addressed to Fraser Neiman in Williamsburg, Virginia. The text of the postcard in MacLeish's handwriting reads: "Dear Mr. Neiman: Thanks for yours of the 20th. Unhappily I'm doing no speaking or reading next year. Trying to get more writing done. Faithfully," followed by a signature ("A MacLeish"). Fraser Neiman taught English at the College of William and Mary and was responsible for finding speakers/readers for special occasions. The postcard is lightly toned, otherwise in very good condition.. SIGNED. First Edition. Paper. Very Good. 3 1/4" X 5 1/2". Manuscript.

A keepsake published to accompany "An Exhibition of Fakes, Forgeries, and Piracies" at the University of Kentucky's King Library. Described as a limited editon for private circulation only and numbered 62/100, but the keepsake is designed as a "forgery" itself. So trust the numbering at your peril! Vintage photograph by New York City Photographer Al Macy (1899-1970).  8 inches by 8.5 inches.  Stamped on the verso: "From the Estate of Al Macy."  The image is of New York's Third Avenue Elevated train tracks at the intersection of the Bowery and Doyers Street circa 1950-1955.  The Third Avenue El, which ran alongside the Bowery, was supplanted by the Subway System and torn down in 1955.  The photo is in excellent condition: clean, bright and crisp; a hint of toning on the verso.. David Simkin reports, "In a classified advert in an 1896 edition of The Photogram, Fortescue Mann was offering "Opaline Stereoscopic Slides", at 6d each, supplied from his shop at 48 Elgin Avenue, Paddington, London." Opaline stereoviews are albumen prints mounted on card stock and enclosed under a sheet of glass.
