Contains essays on Wordsworth, Emerson, Irving, Weimar, Goethe, Whitman, Scott, et.al. as well as 46 black & white photos. From the library of the former premier Walt Whitman collector, bibliophile and philanthropist, Charles Feinberg.

SHACKLES, Henry Waterson Company, 1927, first American edition, spine lightened, some minor nibling on the page edges of a few leaves, else a tight vg copy. The first edition published by The Graphic Publishers Limited in Canada in 1926 is rare. This, the first American edition is virtually impossible to locate. ("Madge Macbeth's Shackles magnifies the middle-class power and gender dynamics of its time.
