Description:
[London]: Dickinson Brothers, 1854. Hand-coloured lithograph with gum arabic by Joseph Nash after his own drawing, and signed lower right. Occasional light, marginal spotting, mostly at edges. Text included. Large folio hand coloured lithograph on thick paper. A handsome rendition of the Minerals Exhibit at the Great Exhibition of 1851, the first world's fair from "Dickinson's Comprehensive Pictures of the Great Exhibition of 1851". Included here is the text, a well-informed commentary on the minerals found and processed in Great Britain. The Great Exhibition of 1851, Prince Albert's vision, was the first world fair, and it was primarily a showcase for the productiveness and diversity of European civilization, particularly the British Empire. This is a rare signed proof copy.
