A passionate attack on cigarette smoking, highlighting its addictive nature and detrimental health effects, published in 1932: "Not one person in a thousand knows anything about the evils of this habit ... Perhaps no campaign has been more insidious" (p.1). Focuses on corporate greed, birth defects, and the financial drain it presents to users. Of most interest, however, is the lower printed wrapper, which bears the results of a study of forty boys in a New York City school. Melrose, MA, 1905. Minor stains on covers, and a photo ghost on back cover. Age toning.. A three page invite for the graduating class of 1905 for the New England Sanitarium, Training School for Missionary Nurses. Located along the border between the two Massachusetts towns of Stoneham and Melrose, the sanitarium and nursing school were apart of a Seventh-Day Adventist Church. The sanitarium would later become known Boston Regional Medical Center before it closed in 1999. This formal invite to the graduation of the the class of 1905 has thick stock paper covers, with yellow string binding. The front cover of the program is has gilt school seal and text. The interior pages features the event details, the school motto- "Not I, But Christ"- and includes a list of graduates, eleven total- three men, and 8 women. Measures 5 1/4" x 4

William is a blue hippopotamus that lives at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He takes the reader around to show off his friends, other art animals. There is a description of the item and when and where it was created as well as what it is made of. The first item is a printed on letterhead from Nason, describing his mission and specifically requesting help for the upcoming 1900-1901 winter campaign to the logging camps, as well as some of the services provided there, such as "Free reading room, cheap lunches served, low priced lodgings, gospel meetings, distribution of bibles, papers and tracts". Done in purple ink. Single sided page. Measures 8 1/2" x 5 1/2". Also includes a folded pamphlet "Glances -- Retrospective and Prospective, Lumbermen's Mission, West Superior Department, The Eight Year, 1899-1900". A 4" x 5 1/4" woodcut of the horse powered device and the horse. Designed after the Box Coffee Mill for the purpose of grinding Apples into Pumice. The narrative describes the device and operation in detail. Offered to the subscriber to build or sell mills to individual, town or county rights. Nathan Booth. Cheshire, New Haven Co. London: Hutchinson Co, 1912. A collection of poetry and lullabies for a child. The book has been divided into twelve different sections, with only a number as a title. At the start of each section is a small black and white charming illustration. There are also a few random illustrations throughout the book. The only illustration in color is the frontispiece, and it showcases a baby in her baptism dress and cap. The end papers are a whimsical piece in pink, of "The Week of Babies". This book was edited & compiled by Muriel Nelson d'Auvergne, and illustrated by T.J. & E.A. Overnell. Measures 6 3/4" x 4 1/2" Light surface wear and fading on cover.

New York: Harper & Brothers, Publishers, 1876. Good. 255 pp. Gilt stamped cloth. An 19th century travel guide, both for travelers and people looking to settle out west. There are twenty-six (26) chapters in the book, with fifty-eight (58) B&W engravings. The illustrations vary in size, from full page to 1/16 of a page. The book discusses the various routes one can take to California, and describes some of the sites, like Yosemite. Edge wear and rubbing to the covers. The interior pages are toned and slightly soiled. The book is missing pages 3-17, which includes one image. Some small marks throughout, but nothing that impacts legibility. Measures 9" x 7
