Description:
J. A. Newsom, 1923. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Very Good. Pictorial wrappers, very good copy. First edition. Adams One-Fifty 108: "Scarce." Guns 1609: "Contains material on Oklahoma outlaws and peace officers. The author speaks of the Dalton and Doolin gangs as being in existence at the same time, but Doolin was a member of the Dalton gang until the latter was wiped out at Coffeyville. He then organized his own gang. The author does not seem to know who killed Belle Starr and says that it might have been her son. This volume apparently provided some of the source material for Sutton's Hands Up and Nix's Oklahombres." (The latter two books are also offered in this catalog.) Howes N124.

Description:
Eden Publishing, 1929. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Cloth, dust jacket, very good. First edition. Adams One-Fifty 109. Guns 1611: "Written entirely about the outlaws of Oklahoma and the peace officers who chased them. It has chapters on the Daltons, the Doolin gang, the Jennings gang, Henry Starr, and others, but there are many mistakes. Most of the incidents the author writes about were secondhand; nearly all the contacts with the outlaws were made by his deputies while he stayed in his office. Too, he dictated this book a number of years after the events took place, by which time his memory was evidently not very good.

Description:
Colt Press, 1941. Limited Edition . Hardcover. Very good copy. Reprint edition. Limited to 500 copies issued by Jane Grabhorn and William Matson Roth. Zamorano Eighty 58: "Many literary critics, including Henry L. Mencken, regard McTeague as the greatest of all American novels. While the story is a sordid one, involving the life and loves and mercenary instincts of an unlicensed San Francisco dentist, it contains some masterly descriptions of California's most glamorous city. The book is particularly significant because it marks the first appearance in the United States of realistic fiction of the genre produced by Emile Zola, Maupassant, Stendhal and other European writers." Johnson, High Spots of American Literature p. 60. Powell, California Classics pp. 175-184.
